I was in the woods with my friends, we were playing on some frozen ice in the winter time. I glanced to the left and saw this very large hound looking being staring at me, it was strange that it looked only at me and not my friends, and they did not see it, after I saw it a terrrible fear came over my body. It was odd because a normal large dog wouldnt have made me so scared. But this dog was grayish, black with piercing yellow eyes that seemed to glow in the daylight. It was almost ghostly looking. after I saw it I ran toward my home I looked back and the dog seemed to be running in slowmotion and almost appearing to float. About a month afterwards I got appendicitis and became very ill. I will never forget the experience.

I think it's either a ghost, a variation of the black dogs, or a combination of the two.

Well this happend four years ago so i dont think i will die. It could have been a feral dog but i highly doubt it. I could be from celtic desent alot of my ancestors are from that area. I dont think it could have been a wolf theres not many were i live there are coyotes but it was way to big to be a coyote. BTW silver cougar i like your avatar.

Listen mufasa i live in alaska and ive heard and seen wolves. what you descibed as a blackish grey large dog sounds like a wolf to me. i have seen them before and somtimes when they run they apear to run in slow motion because of snow or because they don't know if you have a gun or not. and some do have yellow eyes. and they run so smoothly and so silenty evan through deep snow that they look like there floating. if i disapeered qiuckly then it sounds evan more like a wolf to me because ive seen them and they do that. one minute they are there and thee next they are gone. why your friends didn't seee it i don't know but they are very hard to spot evan if there very close. the one thing that troubles me is that your in tennesee. wolves haven't really been very numoruos in the lower 48 for around fifty years. i i don't know much about wolf habits in the lower 48. hope you get better

Yeah theres not many wolf sightings were i live i not even sure there are wolves were i live. The thing that troubles me is it had the face features of a hound. That would be cool if it was a wolf but i used to have a half wolf half huskie and i know what they look like and it didnt look like that. BTW it was four years ago so im ok now.

the dog sighting doesnt sound so scary in itself. Have you a fear of dogs?

And why did you relate your appendix illness to this event? I fail to see the connection.

Ok, obviously you havent heard the storys of black dogs. They are supposed to foretell death or a illness. I do not have a fear of dogs hell i have 4 dogs. This was no normal dog. What i think it might have been is a hell hound.

I found your story fascinating and decided to do some more reading about it. This is what I found:

"As recently as 1970 a sighting of Black Shuck made the headlines. When a huge hound was seen pounding over the beach at Great Yarmouth. 1980, a young woman claimed to have met the hell hound, whilst out walking with her young son. This sighting took place near Wisbeach, though the woman said that this hound had yellow eyes, rather than red, but all of the other details were the same as that of Black Shuck."

Thanks for the info. I got very freaked out when i saw the picture on the link looks almost identical to the same one i saw just the eyes on mine were yellow. Weird my stomic felt funny when i saw the picture and my eyes started to water maybe it just startled me.

In Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hounds of the Baskervilles, he describes a black dog, just like the ones that appear in British legends. "...there stood a foul thing, a great black beast, shaped like a hound, yet larger than any hound that ever mortal eye has rested upon." It is said, in legend, that if one spied, or spoke to one of these large dogs (the size of a calf or larger) he was bound to die. They are also known to have eyes that shine in the dark. In Scotland, tales of the cu sith, or færie hound was also known to foretell death or illness.

Blackdogs also known as Phantom hounds are spiritual/ ghosts already many report seeing them either fade away or just vanish when they turn away for a sec and leave no trace of where they whent. There are so many Black dogs over the Uk, I think every county is supposed to have between 2 or 3 of them, one is said to appear without and head but still make noises as though it as one. another will only make sounds remanisant of a metal chain clinking. There is an oddball one to it is white and claims its victims a day after it talks to them.

Holy sh** that story reminded me of the time i saw a "black dog" or atleast i thought it was a dog. The thing looked like a dog but heavily built, it was about as tall as i was roughly 4' 8" at the time and it kind of lumbered even though when i moved it moved in huge strides but almost like the hunchback. the dog or whatever it was had the shape of a lab almost but it was wide and seemed very muscular. my friend and i were messing around his back yard when we saw the thing and it was around 10:00 pm so it was dark. when we saw it we assumed it was one of his dogs since he had labs and it still looked rather small from the distance. but then we remembered that the dogs were all put in the house, so as we were walking towards it my friend remembered and told me after i had continued to walk about 10 more feet. so i was standing there and this huge animal lumbering toward me. i about sh** my pants when he told me "dude..... we just took all the dogs in and that thing is huge". so i stopped dead and just turned to run when his parents called for us and the best turned and ran. it was an awful sight and it smelled like some sort of sewage. it had no distinct eye color that i can remember.

The scariest part was that the next year they had gone on vacation and while they were gone my family was watching their house, and one day we went to check on it and there was a huge dead wild turkey torn apart at their back door. and when they got home, the carcas of a deer was lieing at their front, the weird part about the deer was they have a fence about 3 feet high around their front yard so something jumped the fence and tore the deer apart there then jumped back.

any ideas? could it be the same thing?

It could have been a Great Dane you saw. These dogs are HUGE!!!!

ok the fence comes up to about the windshield on a ford expodition, so semi high. but yeh the thing wasn't a great dane or w/e i know what thoes look like it was like wide and tall but i remember it's thickness, and great danes are kind of tallish and thin, this thing's head was more in the middle of it's shoulders and husky. it didn't seem to have much of a neck.

Large Rotwieller(sp?) perhaps then? or maybe an Irish wolf-hound

Wolves are my favorite animal and i know they dont live in tennesse. Sounds like it was a demon or angel dog that was warning you of the appenditis

yeah, they dont live intenessee now, but there used to be all kinds of animals in places they dont live anymore. for instance, southern Louisiana used to have parrots, wolves, mule deer, birds similar to toucans, and rabbits that lived in holes. all of those up-until the coming of white man, and all gone now.

Yeah animals are known to migrate weirdly. Here in Idaho we have gotten strange stuff before. We once had a cougar walk through downtown Boise at 5pm rush hour. And this other time I saw a African swallow carrying a coconut...
