sad.gif For years now I have experienced items going missing. Sometimes its money, other times its daft things like dog biscuits, jewellry, tablets. Trying to tell strangers about this proves rather difficult and so I have lived with it. My boyfriend came over the other day and some money disappeared out of his wallet. This has to stop. It is not a person who is doing this. I dont know who to turn to.

I dont know what to think however I know it makes no sense.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Does anyone know of someone I could contact regarding this?

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm no expert in this field but it sounds like you've got yourself a poltergeist or something along those lines...As I said, I'm no expert in this fields, but give it a while and someone will help...

Sounds like "The Them".

The Fortean Times ran quite an interesting article on just such a phenomenon as household items going missing and then subsequently turning up in the most perculiar places - or not turning up at all - and the suggestion made was that it was "The Them" who were responsible.

"The Them" were posited as nebulous and mischevious entities, something between the household spirits of old and the modern gremlin. They steal things for no other purpose than seeing the bewilderment and frustration of the owner.

I must confess, I've always found it quite a beguiling little idea - no matter much it violates our idea of consensus reality. It's veracity, of course, remains in the same realm as every other paranormal phenomenon.

I've been trying to track down the Fortean Times article for years now but sadly with no success. However, I remember in the subsequent issue that numerous readers wrote in with their experiences of "The Them", and the majority opinion was that the missing items are often returned if asked for politely.

(Once, a few years ago I was wintering near ancient Antioch and I lost the key to the flat. I had an appointment and was already running late, and had been looking for the blessed thing for a couple of hours. Remembering "The Them" - and feeling slightly ridiculous - I politely asked for my key back as I was in a rush. After another frantic rootle around the kitchen I went back into the bedroom, and there was my key - lying on the bed. Whether I merely missed it the first 24 frantic rootles around the bedroom because both the key and bedsheets were of a similar colour or whether "The Them" had obliged, I don't know. But there you are.)

As I say, I never managed to locate the article again. Perhaps another member knows a link.

I recently watched a television special dedicated to T.H.E.M. in this case though they were also called Totally Hidden Extreme Magicians . I suppose it could have been them.

Seriously though just try asking politely for what ever has been mislaid back . You may feel silly but I can also tell you from experience it does appear to work .

My friend had the same prob if you dropped something and watched it roll under the sofa you'd lift the sofa a second later and whatever it was, was just gone it'd turn up days or weeks later in a different room! He just stopped caring and basically thought sod it, and the things stopped going missing. Maybe the them got bored with no reaction!

A big thank you to all of you who have commented on my problem and sent messages. The Them is something that I have never heard of so the more comments the better. I have lost so much money to this and it is hard to be "past caring" when its your savings that have disappeared. Having said that....maybe you are right, maybe not to give away your disappointment, they will get fed up!

If it is a them... or some kinda impish little sprite running around, sometimes an offering of cakes and milk will help.

No, I'm not joking. *grins*

I have had the same thing going on. I am extremely sain, not cultish of any kind, and about an 8 on on a scale of 1-10 of being organized. I am a virgo so I am very analytical and logical. I live with my very sane mother who I have never found to play any tricks or steal anything. I have theft detection devices set up in my house as well. I keep finding things missing in my house. Today three pieces of silverware were missing. I did the dishes yesterday and know I had a full set because I only have a set of four. about a week ago I also changed the sheets on my bed only to find my top sheet missing that I store in the exact same spot everytime. I also have randomely had two DVD's come up missing, a leather laptop case, lots of jewelry from inside my locked safe, BTW no jewelry was stolen that was in the open and one of my T-shirts went completely missing all on seperate occasions. I have also lost a set of tools out of my truck but had a nice HP printer and digital camera sitting right next to it. Bad karma? Ghosts? If they are ghosts they are trickster ghosts. Help

I don't mean to be rude, but surely that's a contradiction?

Apparently, to get "lost" items back you should jusk ask for them out loud. Don't forget to say thank you!

Could be something there playing with you , (IF) it is something in your home and it hasnt made itself noticable or even let you know it was there before , you should have no problems if you ask it to stop (NICELY) . If it didnt bother you before , it more than likely will not do it know ! Give it a shot !

When items appear and disappear due to supernatural causes, it's called "Apport" right?

Yea one term for it. On New Years Eve I felt something land on my lap (despite the fact I was sitting with my legs under a table) and felt and heard whatever it was roll off my legs and drop on the floor. When I looked under the table to see what it was, there was nothing there at all. Sometimes these things aren't always poltergeist/spirit related, but dimensional/shared space related.
JustNormal
Apport is mostly in reference to mediums and seances, causing objects to appear. However, things in our home that disappear are either tied into Poltergeist activity or loved ones showing us they are around. JMO....JN
AngelXVI
Its known as the DOP effect Disappearing Object Phenonemon... or some people call them the Borrowers. If you ask for the items back politely, they will return them to you.

oh man lol i have some words for this! i have dubbed this the "void effect" grin2.gif

this happens to me all the time. I pull over, put my keys in my pocket. Stop paying attention for 30 seconds, reach in my pocket and they are gone. that is one example. and no matter how much you search you won't find it either. then later it pops up somewhere you looked 50 times. there is nothing you can do. it falls into the void. what i do is just forget about what im hunting for and about the time i forget about it it shows back up.
