For those of you not familiar with Frank Frazetta as a person I guarantee you that you will be familiar with his art. He has been an inspiration to many with his creative and original visual style which can be seen everywhere.

He has been an inspiration to many artists especially in movies and comics.

Frank Frazetta

Not to many people talk about the guy and I don't think I have ever seen a thread about him here. So I figured I would take it upon myself to give one of the greatest artists of the 20th century a mention and a thread here.

I am a huge fan of the mans work and have been since I was a kid.

He has been the main inspiration for so many other artists and heir work and you can see his style everywhere because it's been replicated. Everywhere from movies to comic books Frank Frazetta's work and style is everywhere.

It is quite uncommon for him to get honorable mention because many people especially under the age of 30 don't know who he is.

I figured a lot of people here would appreciate his work so I made a post about him.

I agree. Frazetta's ability to capture the fantasy genre is truly amazing. But yeah, he is an artistic god to the industry.

I've always liked Frank Frazetta but I couldn't call him the best in the past 50 years imo that would have to be Boris Vallejo (no link ...just in case someone gets offended by a beautifully drawn female butt)

Even in Boris Vallejo's fantasy art you can see where he drew inspiration from Frazetta though... Vallejo is good but his work and style were inspired by Frazetta.

Here is some info about Vallejo for those not familiar with the man.

Yea Vallejo, another kick-ass artist, i posted some of his work in the past...
maaan i could hang round this thread all day lol!

Just on Frazetta tho, according to Wiki he's been suffering from ongoing health problems over quite a few years, still has the gift thats a fact.

check this out...

''He attended the academy for eight years under the tutelage of Michael Falanga, an award-winning Italian fine artist. Falanga was struck by Frazetta's significant talent. Frazetta's abilities flourished under Falanga, who dreamed of sending Frazetta to Europe...(it goes on, but this)...Today, Frazetta's work is so highly regarded that even incomplete sketches of his sell for thousands of dollars. Frazetta's primary commercial works are in oil, but he also works with watercolor, ink and pencil alone.''

Imagine the price of all his original$ once he's gone...including his sketches?!?
not bad for a bloke that came from humble beginnings in Brooklyn, New York, he would of made even Pablo Picasso proud. lol!

couple of his early works...

Not Charcoal... Either Airbrush or CG, if I had to guess I would say CG definitely.
