I am really looking forward to the new season of Ghost Hunters. In my opinion it is the only paranormal show worth watching. Paranormal State? I will watch that if I want to see a barely out of puberty kid walk around talking about invisible demons, no evidence, and talk through a walkie talkie because he thinks it sounds cool...lol GHI? They should call it GHR...Ghost Hunters Rejects. Most Haunted? fake mediums and liars.
Here is a preview of TAPS season 4. The first episode they visit a site that has been off limits to the public for over 100 years...very exciting.
season 4 previewFor those of you who have never seen the show before, I invite you to check it out on the SciFi channel. It is a true look at work of paranormal investigators, and not fake in any way.
I thought about putting this in the paranormal TV section, but this forum gets read a lot more. Move it if you must, but I think it belongs here as well.

Yes, it's a great show and I agree that it's the only paranormal investigative show worth watching.
We've just had a new series of Most Haunted starting over here in the UK - I can't bear it, actually it's ok until Carl and Stewart turn up and then the same thing happens every time, they have stones thrown around, one of them might faint or be "possessed", Stewart will say he's leaving. I wish he would, and drag Carl's fake ass out of there with him.

I always watch it.
I hated Ghost Hunters International...I watched it for the historic places they went to.
=D I can't stand the other ghost shows, at least these people seem like they're trying to do it right.
I don't believe the stuff, but some of it is interesting.

Didn't really like Ghost Hunters International as much as TAPS. Some of those people were annoying. I haven't seen Paranormal States- where do you find that?
I will DVR TAPS and Destination Truth- the host is funny.

It was a great show. They caught a appirition on thermal, what appeared to be someone cooking something on a stove. The stove was also hot on thermal, but it hadn't been in use for over 100 years. I wish grant would have caught the face he saw on camera though. They also caught a disembodied voice.

Me and my two friends adore Steve, and the fact that he is scared of spiders, heights and flights only makes him more adorable. So take a hint all you men that think being all macho is a turnon to us women.....not so much.

For a quick $60 bucks I mighta given it a shot.
Getting me down in that cellar 11 or whatever mighta been a different story. I get claustrophobic a bit too easily.....a narrow path underground with ghosts in it - I don't know how much I could of handled that.
The EVPs they got were pretty good. You could definately hear the "Mommy, mommy" one, and "The boss wants it deeper" sounded pretty good too. I didn't know what to make of the "Can I have some water, sir" one. It didn't seem quite as clear.
The thing that stunk was 4 different people in this Fort Mifflin episode claimed to see shadow type figures or an apparition yet none of it was caught on tape. One guy said he saw one when he went to the bathroom. Another one said he saw one crawling through the narrow tunnel in that underground spot, and then there was the face the other person saw. And I thought there was a 4th, but I can't recall it all the sudden.
I never watched the show before but stumbled across it and saw the two episodes before the new one also. Those episodes had some pretty neat looking things on those heat sensitive cameras (or whatever their called) too. In one they were aiming it at a locker and you could easily see the outline of a man from it. I wish I knew more about how those cameras work just so I could understand what the chances are of picking up images like that accidently, or something in comparison to knowing if it means there is definately ghostly activity in the area.
On another episode one of the guys was having a seance with a spiritualist and on the heat camera thing while the reading was being done you could see this wave of energy coming off the guy and stretching out to the person giving the reading. The spiritualist then raised his hand out and once he did all the heat energy stuff faded right back to the guy getting the reading. It was pretty neat to see.
Definately a much better ghost show then all the others I've seen. And the TAPS people don't seem to jump to ghostly conclusions immediately whenever they hear or see something, so it comes off as a bit more believable when they give you the evidence they picked up on.

no doubt it will rerun. I still think taps can do better - increased stays at places . cameras during the day as well ect........ since alot of sightings ect are during the day as well. And if it's sporadic the more time you spend the more time your bound to catch something.
maybe a sect that has around the clock survailence for a spell. Make a special out of it.
Paranormal State sucks. Destination Truth can be kinda lame at times. So far I like the UFO hunters ( that one guy Bill Birnes .... a bit too excitable for my taste but the composure of the other guys tends to outweigh him. Plus you gotta have one guy that seems a bit out there for contrast. )

Yea, I thought it was odd that they only take footage for one night (at least it came across that way every episode I caught). I thought it would make more sense if they stuck around and try to catch things for 3 days or so, but i guess they have their reasons why they don't.
I guess it wouldn't be bad though if they went back and revisted places later on.

HI everyone, I just saw the show and absolutely loved it. I hope the teams stays the way it is now, cause if it does, we are gonna see a whole lot of comedy between Steve and Tango. Steve is simply a smart ass and Tango would do anything for the team lol. I think Tango has to stop being a punching bag and introduce a rubber spider to Steve lol. Can u imagine Steves face hahaha.
Gota say, i shat myself when Grant jumped cause he thought he saw a face. But his comment afterwards saying he wasnt scared just surprised was abit of bull. That reaction wasnt of someone who was merely surprised. Its ok, big tough ghost hunters can be scared to lol.

I was wondering ...... if a supposed spirit is haunting a place and they have a clue as to who it is .... would doing things like playing popular music and sounds of the era or perfume of the era ( smells) help make something more concrete to capture .... in other words draw it out ??

I have waited and waited and waited for the new season and thank goodness this episode was worth the wait, though I think all of the episodes are awesome.

It was a shame none of them could really stay down in the, I'm going to call it the pit, longer than they did, and I never thought I would see the day where Jason would get semi-freaked out (even though it was due to his partial claustrophobia...) and next weeks episode looks promising.

Considering other ways in which they try, I would have to say your comments above could certainly be a helpful way in making that happen - kind of in the same sense spiritualists or physics can use items of a deceased person to help pick up their presence.

I give Kris some credit for at least going down in there. But TAPS needs more investigators who are fearless and don't get scared so easily.
NoahJaymes
Mar 7 2008, 07:25 PM
If everyone was fearless it would be boring. I dont think it is them being scared of what they do, i mean, they do investigate paranormal claims, however being down in a location that hasn't been touched in 150+yrs or so where they used it as a solitary confinement cell, kinda freaky. People have different breaking points and its kinda hard to tell what those breaking points are if you don't test your investigators. Which is what they did with Kris. Gradually she will go further and further. Not too sure how many people would venture in by themselves in a narrow spaceless dark hole. I am pretty fearless about investigating and I often do things that others wouldn't do but we all have our limits.

I love the original Ghost Hunters. I was a bit disappointed with the International though. The only part that I was happy about was that Bryan was there.

He was always my favorite. I love Steve, he's great. Jay and Grant, well they're ok. Kris... not so much. There were those new people too, that I thoroughly hate. But the show is great. I like the first lighthouse episode. Where the woman was heard saying, "Help me." That was my first and favorite episode.

They also need....
1/ To leave their equipment for a longer period of time. If they upload the video, I'm sure some amateur sleuths would find anomalies for them.
2/ To use something like

Well, that would come in handy but I don't think anyone is completely fearless. Now, as for Brian's famous "dude run!" stint in Eastern State, that could have been helped. But being down in that solitary confinement thing, I would say that type of fear is instinctual. Being in such a small, old place in pitch black goes against everything your body and mind is telling you to do. Maybe they could have stayed longer, but I think think they're getting better at doing things they don't like in order to get evidence.
But yeah, my family, and one of my friends and I are in love with this show. I've never missed an episode since the series premier. I guess I have nothing to do on Wednesdays haha. I waited so long for a show that didn't make me embarrassed to want to be a ghost hunter. I can't bare to watch shows like Most Haunted.
Anyways, I thought the episode was awesome. I guess it got some record breaking ratings too. They're going back there this summer and selling tickets for the general public to come along for $250. And even more crazy is that it's already sold out haha.

I am actually working on making some ball caps with cameras built into them for my PI team. There are some problems though. Either you have to make the cameras wireless, or carry a DVR around.
Most PI's stay away from wireless, because you can pick up too much interference, plus you are limited on broadcast range.
And for a wired camera, you would have to carry some sort of portable DVR system to record the video, and as of right now, a portable DVR system capable of recording hours worth of video is EXTREMELY expensive. The alternative is lower res video, which does not good, or constantly swapping out memory cards, which is a hassle. The technology will catch up within the next couple of years to make them more affordable.
As for attaching an IR to the thermal cam, I agree with that completely. Just use a freaking handheld video camera, and point it everywhere you point the thermal cam. I would love to see what some of these things would look like on IR.

Is there a tech thread for paranormal studies? Maybe Sauruman would be interested in adding something like that for the "nerds" here at UM. Just a separate area for all sorts of tech stuff, be it video, audio, ghost-hunting stuff, methods for collecting data for the psi people, that kind of stuff. Maybe even a cool dragon-detector?

Yes, as a matter if fact I do. There is ALOT more evidence to back up the theory of life after death than there is of and actual dragon living in todays society, as you seem to believe. And, also, alot more people who believe in ghosts also. You seem to be the only one who actually believes in dragons, except for a few 3 year olds who haven't figured out that they are just fairy tales yet.

Actually, a PI tech forum would be a good idea. It seems to be a growing topic, and getting more and more sophisticated every day.
And as far as DC, he is just mad at me because I don't like it that he seems to keep highjacking topics to promote his beliefs in the existance of dragons. Yep, that's right, he actually beleives that real dragons did, and still do, exist. And, he will be the first to insult you and call you and idiot for not believing. He's actually a 13 year old kid, lieing about his age, and trying to actually get people to believe in dragons by lieing about everything. Please, just igore him, or this whole topic will turn into a debate on the existance of dragons.

But I suppose they still have to show segments like the second part. Where the child thought someone was in her room all the time.
I'll give the episode a C+
