Hey there. I realized while looking through a book store that I might be looking for a book that doesn't exist. While the concept of an apocalypse is certainly very Judeo-Christian, I know that there are certainly prophecies of doom and bad omens that come from other cultural sources (i.e. I don't just want references to biblical scripture). I want to do some research on bad omens and prophecies of doom from multiple cultures, but couldn't find any good books on the subject.
Any suggestions?
I remember seeing this book in bookstores...
The End of Days: Armageddon and Prophecies of the Return by author Zecharia Sitchin. I'm not sure if this is even a good book - or if there's any good book on that subject at all - but I would say it fits the description. Did a little research and the ISBN 10 is 0061238236. This will make it easier to look for in bookstores both on and offline.
Just yesterday I also watched a Nostradamus related documentary which pointed some of his alleged prophecies about the end of the world coinciding with the end of the Mayan Calendar in about 2012. It seems as if someone dug up some ancient picture book from a library in Rome which somehow they want to relate to Michel Nostradamus at all cost – including the price of some of the most ridiculous remarks I’ve ever heard concerning iconological and textual interpretations. If you ask me, they're doing their best to install the fear of the end of the world once again, now that we've passed the psychological barrier of the 1999, 2000 and 2001.
It’s great publicity for prime-time TV documentaries and books, now that the Da Vinci Code craze is over. So think about it…
