has anyone heard of this story? it's sad for everyon involved, Mary Bell was a 10 year old girl that had murdered two children. It's a sad story about how she was abused herself in different ways and how she was taught to be cold and calculating. Even the woman guards that took care of her when she was kept in solitary confinement for awhile were scared of her.

I have read this on crimelibrary matt and it's a very vary scary indeed.Cases like this are very difficult because of the young age she was at the time the crimes where commited.I personally think any person that commits crimes like she did at such a young age should spend along time in prison.This brings into question a persons ability to be rehabilitated,and that is a topic i am undecided on.

Yuck I am normally interested in true crime...but I read the book of this "Cries Unheard" by Gitta Sereny and felt revolted reading it.
It was very disturbing, like the Bulger case. There is something about kids killing kids that is highly repugnant (every murder is as well of course).
It is difficult though to know what type of punishment and/or rehabilitation is appropriate isn't it?

I also read this on Crime Library, and can't imagine what would possess a young child to commit murder...But this isn't the only story about child murderers....There are so many reads in the newspapers and on-line about these young children murdering young children....How can one possible handle this...Evaluation, their homelife, social skills..It's scary...I just finished reading about 3 teenagers (age 13), who were going to kill kids in their school because of the teasing they were submitted to....In this case, kids can be so cruel...their minds get twisted and it amazes me that there are no forewarnings that parents or teachers may see...Very sad

They are just being influenced in someway.
it just goes to show that things like this really do happen, and never trust little girls with evil smiles >=)
Does anybody know if Mary Bell ever watched the film THE BAD SEED, released a half-dozen or so years before her crimes?
