been reading thro the site last couple of days and it made me think hmm have i ever had any paranormal experiences (which i havnt). And i remebered a strange thing me and some friends saw when i was younger.

I live on the south downs in sussex in england and one day my mum and her friend took me and my brother and my mums friends daughters on a walk over the downs, (the downs are miles of sweeping hills valleys and woodland with small villages situated in between)
anyway we were about 4 to 5 miles into the downs and near a ruined and abandoned roman village called balsdean farm there are no buildings left there just to add just a ruined brick barn( it was finaly deserted during world war 2 when the army bought the land to test bombs on) . About half an hours walk from the old village we found this little mushroom( the best way i can explain it) of trees and whilst the adults set up picnics and such us kids went into the woods what we saw was really freaky basically in the middle of the wood there was a circle of barb wire about 10- 15 foot in diameter around this odd looking tree, it was really old and knarly, and hanging from its branches were old looking wooden chairs that were also wrapped in barbed wire, there must have been about 3 in total. We showed the adults and they just said it was probably kids but now thinking back on it why would kids go 4-5 miles out into the downs by themselves and why on earth would they have barbed wire and chairs with them this was litrally the middle of no where.
I doubt i could ever find it again because the memories of it are quite vague but u never forget seeing a weird thing like that just thought i would share it with everyone.

I don't know if this helps, but barbed wire objects, including chairs, are or were popular props in professional wrestling exhibitions. There used to be an "Extreme Championship Wrestling" (ECW) league with stars like Sabu, Abyss, and Steve Corino. Barbed wire was a big draw.

Maybe your site was for some fans or wannabes who were practicing.

I have spent a lot of time in the woods, and have found many sites with strange stuff in the middle of nowhere. I think that most of those were places where teens met, drank, and perhaps pursued other social activities more easily undertaken away from prying eyes.

"Strange stuff" includes furniture. What I have found in the way of seats were still suitable for sitting on, but here's a "Theory B" for your site: maybe one group was "sending a message" to some other group that used the site for meetings.

The only barbed wire I have found was obviously left over from agricultural uses. The forest had reclaimed the farms whose fences survive. That shows that barbed wire can last intact for many decades in the woods, which complicates your task of getting to the bottom of things.

For what it is worth, those few genuine pagans I have heard discussing their use of woodlands for ritual purposes say that they take care to leave the woods as they found them.

When i was younger me and my group of friends made made a "fort" in the woods and fought with sticks against the other group of kids and their "fort".Sometimes when they were gone we would sneak in and sabotage their fort.This sounds exactly like wat a bunch of kids would do.Or maybe some teenagers in wannabe gangs that get into real fighting.Who knows.

sounds like teenagers mucking about, maybe trying to scare people who come across it (like it did to you). I could quite easily see my and my mates doing something like that for a laugh.

most seem to be just OLD hunter camps or old graveyard type things.But they can be scary
or as stated just some kids being kids

kids that went camping maybe? lol dunno, being so far out does seem a bit strange but if they already knew the place was there and had planned to do it, maybe not so strange.

Never know but that sounds like the type of thing i'd have done as a lad just for the hell of it maybe they liked to play soldiers out there or something and it was their fort who knows but great story or who knows it very well could be ritualistic in some way...not one i'm familiar with but i'm just one person

I once saw a couple of people dancing naked round a bush in a woods about 10 mins walk from where I live. They got dressed and walked off after a passing 4x4 stopped and said something to them.

We saw them walk by later on, they looked a bit embarrassed because I think they saw us from a distance. Funny stuff
