Does anyone ever notice their cursor moving up or down by itself? or Is it just me going nuts?!

How do you make this nonsense stop?
moe eubleck
perhaps your are rubbing your eyes with the mouse??
Xenojjin
If your using a ball mouse , its probobly dirty and needs to be cleaned .

you need -
pair of tweezers ( small )
cloth
spot to put mouse ball and lock .

Untwist the bottom of your mouse ( the lock that holds the mouse ball in ) and take out the ball .

you should notice certain areas of the innards of your mouse that can spin , and resemble a wheel . if you see any dirt stuck to them use the tweezers to pick the dirt / gunk out .

*note , almost all mouse's have 3 wheels inside them

wipe each wheel off with the cloth and put the ball back in . Then screw the mouse lock back in making sure its locked ( most mouse's have an arrow pointing to the direction to turn . )

At the very least , this should make it easier to move the ball around . Sorry if you already knew how to do this , just felt like writing something... tongue.gif

Moe's mouse does not have balls. It has a lil red light underneath..... huh.gif

Isn't your mouse cursor moving by itself or your CD drive opening suddenly signs that someone's screwing around inside your comp? huh.gif
Xenojjin
more likely in the case of your mouse moving by itself your mouse is dirty . As for the CD case opening by itself you are right , but it can be easily blocked by spybot and other such software by immunizing ( closing off certain ports hackers use to get in ) .

buying a wireless router that has a built in firewall is also helpfull .

or you could just get a ballless mouse... tongue.gif

it could be a trojan horse, some program doing it (i can program in visual basic i can make a program that does things to cursor like make it move at a certain time.
Plus be careful on on program you install or download as they can include a backdoor in it i made a program that send message to other user on lan. my friend wants it so i gave a copy to him i also include a backdoor in it(later i told him to delete it and gave him a clean one) that just show on program you install or download can include nasty stuff in it. To prevent these backdoor from from doing its function just get a firewall theres a few free software firewall like zonealarm.

I think you just have to sell your mouse at eBay by saying that it is "possesed". Trust me on this one, you're going to make a looot of money tongue.gif

Are you hooked up to a network? If not then it is probaly just that some gained access to your system and can not only make your mouse move, but can also read all your files, and (if you have the computer set to save your password for these things) can send IM's, emails, or do other potentially incriminating things with your computer.

This is a spyware program that is desighned by the very same company that is giving you the popup and trying to sell you the product . Tis a scam , Luckily I have already dealt with this one by "helping" ( rolleyes.gif ) my incompetent school computer administrator .

First go and get Spybot Search and destroy and run it the search and destroy option

*note : if the program asks you if you would like to run another check upon your next OS startup say yes .

then click on immunize to block off certain spyware points .

then download and use The X cleaner to run another check of deleting random spyware crap made by people with no life .

Restart your computer and the popup should be a thing of the past . original.gif

might be that kind of program i mention before that cause your cursor to move at certain time.
Some handy tips against spyware:
1.Never use administrator account for anything unless you gonna install some software that you trust or make some changes to the computer.
2.check for spyware regularly
3.try not to go to adult sites ,warez sites etc (im not saying every warez and adult site does this but some do ) cause they install dialers (dialers are those nasty things that dials your com to a porn number and get a huge amount on your bill)on your com somehow on some occasion it can still do it if your not running admin.
4.try not to download free software like kazza, imesh etc as they are ridden with spyware (im not saying dont download any free software just download the ones you think doesnt contain nasty stuff)
5.update your spyware detection program regularly
6.add yours (i think there is more thats all i can think of so far)

someone mention there mouse moves when they go to a site
some site has script such as javascript that can do stuff to your cursor(i dont know much about javascipt cause i never used it)

Or... you don't really have to worry about it if you don't use windows wink2.gif

I find the infra red ones are so much better than the balled mice. grin2.gif

I have to use a mouse with a ball at the minute and it annoys me.
Evil*THE*VEEID
