Anyway, a friend of a friend was on student exchange in Holland. The people she was staying with there were typical Dutch... really laid back and friendly. When it came time for the friend of a friend to leave and fly home, she bust the catch on her suitcase... it wouldn't stay shut. The people in the house there offered her the use of one of their old suitcases... it was old and as they said, it had done many miles travelling with them, but it was fine, she could have it to travel back. She accepted the offer and off she went... When she arrived home at the airport, she collected her case from the carousel and made to go past customs to leave, but the sniffer dog on patrol there went ballistic... wagging his tail, whining, sniffing at the case, straining at his leash and so on. Well, our friend of a friend gets taken into a side room, the case is emptied, the lining torn out, the sides broken down, all the time the sniffer dog is going mental over the case. Customs think there is something definitely amiss, but try as they might, they can't find anything so have to let her (and the remains of her case) go.
When she gets home, of course the first thing she does is to get on the phone.... hang the time... and ring her hosts in Holland to ask them about the suitcase ... "What's it with the case and the crazy dog ?" she asks...
"Oh !" said her Dutch friends "That's the old case our cat sleeps in !"
