I can't get this off my mind, I see people of all walks of life so miserable. I look at things and see no purpose anymore. When I look at things, i'm starting to realize that we ARE insignificant. So in the long run you don't see yourself put anything into it really. I think to myself, why listen to other peoples's opinions? Granted, sometimes there worth listening to. But today in the world is ultra materialism it's hard not to embrace something spiritual, to hope we are more significant. And when we die, it's not the end, but a next step in becoming more then we are now. So how can we listen to someone who's selfish and doesn't care about human life to tell you there's nothing after death and that life is insignificant. Then to ask yourself the same question and maybe get the same answer, or something to different, or just plain wrong. Anyway, thanks for letting me rant. Does anyone else know how I feel?

If you see yourself in relation to the vastness of the Universe..you may feel such a small part as to be almost insignificant... Selfishness is just an act of self.. a byproduct or subconscious act of overreacting to the fear of insignificance...

But.. if you ever feel a sense of deja vu.. constantly wonder about things .. then mysteriously.. coincidently..you find your answer..whether it be a song on the radio..or the next words your hear by passing strangers.. a phone call.. an object or an event you suddenly notice.. or finding just the thing you needed on sale in the shops.. or the $2 store..
Or something silly happens to cheer you up..just when you need it most...

You 'know' that there is more to this world than you think......that there must be a purpose for you.. if the universe.. is creating these incidents just for you...

Have you ever read the Celestine Prophecy ???

It is a lesson in awareness... worth reading... wink2.gif

Live your life for yourself, always trying to be happy, or at least content.

If you think that we are insignificant in the long run, that shouldn't change the way you live.

Eh, to be honest I wonder this a lot. My philosophy is just to live to see what's over the next hill. If I die now I don't think it'll be so different than if I died in 80 years time. If God or Buddha or whatever introduced themselves to me when I die then so be it. If there's nothing then I won't really be caring that much at that point. It only starts mattering if someone can prove there is a hell. Eternity of burning and all this sounds terrible.

If you know that life is really an adventure.. with a series of challenges . ... wink2.gif . just like a board game... (think of the tales of the Greek and Roman gods.. throwing obstacles in our paths..just to watch how we are going to deal with it...)

That life is only monotonous if we let it..(like refuse to roll the dice.. or take the obvious route with everyone else..and live a predictable life)..Think of ourselves as models for our children.. for others.. for ourselves
We could alter our choices... the way our day is played out... our experience of life..

If something isn't working.. we try something else.. or even just view it from a different angle so we feel differently about it...react in another way..There isn't just a forward and backward path.. there are an infinite number of paths to take..like a checker or a chess board ... except fewer rules as to your moves...
One Message for Man
Thought-provoking topic. Human mortality is something we tend to push to the back of our minds. Then as the years go by, our thoughts do turn to the question of whether there really is a spiritual realm. At the end of the day I think it's always going to be a matter of personal belief. I myself believe that everyone's life has meaning, and one's actions during life serve a greater purpose, even though that purpose is not always clear at the time.

I hear people constantly say there is a purpose in life, but they just don't know what it is. Instead of believing you have a purpose, make a purpose for yourself. Look at the world around and change what is wrong. Waiting to find out your purpose will cause a life of idleness. Do something! Even if your words or actions help only one person, it was still worthwhile.

Oh for gawds sake get out in the fresh air more Malakiem, and stop twisting inwards.

Go climb Mam Tor, and from the top, look down on the valley, and across at the windswept moors. It gives you a different perspective.

(warning... take food on this walk, and water, but do NOT take biscuits. If you attempt to eat them, you will be mobbed by the Mam Tor sheep. )
