Hi,

Has anyone heard of an earthquake weapon? There are claims that Nicola Tesla condcuted experiments into controlled earthquakes in 1935. Tesla called these experiments "the art of telegeodynamics". 'Tesla was able to cause "rhythmical vibrations to pass through the Earth with almost no loss of energy," and he could "convey these mechanical effects to the greatest terrestrial distances and produce all kinds of unique effects."' (source).

I had heard mention of such a device years ago and the recent earthquakes in Britain jogged my memory and prompted me to conduct a little research into the topic. If such a device does exist, a nation could potentially misuse it to gain control over other nations. Any thoughts?

If there is already a thread on this, I apologise. I conducted a search, but could not find any threads about this topic. Also, if I have posted in the wrong category (Science & Technology), again I apologise.

Yes, Tesla made an Oscillator, it vibrate an object on its natural resonance. the object/ building begins to undergo severe shock, as it tries to shake itself apart. It would be ludicrous to imagine that a tiny oscillator could by itself bring down a building, if not for the principle of resonance.

Wow, thanks. Do you know if it is being used by government to cause mayhem on another nation?

There seems to be all sorts of exotic claims made about Tesla and some of his inventions. I doubt very much that he made an "earthquake machine" in the way described in your source website; nor has anyone subsequently.

Well... except... there IS a machine that oil explorers use. It's a large truck with a "thumper foot" underneath that sends low-frequency vibrations through the earth. This acts as a sort of geological 'sonar', and can give geologists an insight into the structure of the ground for miles around. (and in particular, the likelyhood of there being any oil). I've read speculation that if such a machine was used near an existing fault line, then it could trigger an earthquake.

This is only a hypothesis. Also, it does not CREATE an earthquake, merely triggers an "earthquake waiting to happen" prematurely. So you could only use such a technique in certain area's. (e.g. ones where geological stresses had already built up).

Agree, How could a machine match the natural resonance of the earth. wacko.gif

Like I said It's quite impossible right now.
