March 18, 2008 -- The plummeting real-estate market has gone intergalactic.

A Chattanooga, Tenn., house shaped like a flying saucer has sold at auction for only $135,000.

It's perched on six "landing gear" legs and has a retractable staircase that lowers to the ground. That feature came in handy for a former owner who was having an argument with her husband. She pulled up the stairway, drove a truck underneath it so he couldn't get the stairs down, and left him stuck inside.

Oh man, we used to drive by this place all the time when I was a little girl - it's on the way to Signal Mountain. I thought it was just the coolest place back then and wanted to live there. Looks really neat at night. Can't believe how little it sold for

C'mon She-Ra, is this really newsworthy? UFO shaped houses are to be expected in this day and age. Show me a House shaped UFO and I'll take notice!

I'll bet all the kids wanted to live there! And i just love the part about the wife parking a truck under the stairs so hubby was stuck inside! Although if he had enough food, beer, and the sports channel he probably wouldn't care till the supplies ran out!

what you need to do is go here to see the house that was supposed to be the house of the future... everything dropped down and pulled out
i remember it as a wee tacker.. they tore it down quite some years ago

Maybe the husband would be a little less stranded if the door was a little more normal.
