Hi everyone!

I am starting this thread to understand the universitality of INTUITIONS! I guess everyone has their own way of interpreting and understanding them.

Many people believe strongly in their intuitive powers, it is nothing supernatural, just a sub-conscious thought. But what makes YOU judge them, is the topic.

But most importantly, I'd like to know what an INTUITION is, according to you?

For me, an intuition could be a sudden impression or feeling that might be out of place with a stimulus or an environment. The incongruency of the feeling makes it notable and not easily explained.

Or it could be a thought that pops into my head that seems to carry import, and again is unsupported by anything that has recently happened.

Sometimes it is just a gut feeling - for example, you normally walk home a certain route, but one day you get a feeling that you should vary it and take a different couple of streets. Why would you get that feeling out of the blue? Yup, it could be a mental fart, or it could be intuition trying to get you to avoid being mugged...

Ironically, following intuitions usually leads to no evidence to support them...

Intuition is something that, if I ignore it, comes back to bite me.

I suppose it could be the brains way of sending a message based on data that can't be verbally or perhaps rationally expressed.

That's just a guess of course.

To me, it's a 'sudden knowing' of what to expect in the future. It's like a personal wireless antenna that catches a frequency to the internet highway of future events.

Intuition to me is a gut feeling in my stomach, along with a thought in my head, happening at exactly the same time...Fortunately, the percentage of it happening has been slightly below half, but I don't put any of these feelings aside...One incident that I do remember happened some years ago...My husband and I were going out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant and the feeling came that we shouldn't go there...Have no idea why hubby listened to me original.gif but we read the next day, the restaurant had been robbed, guns involved, and it would have been about the time we would have been there...So whether these feelings happen or not I pay full attention to them... mellow.gif

intution is s omething, for me atleast feeling that is always or most of the time wrong, yaa by fluke right in very few cases.i at times think intutions are similar to instincts or instincts is a kind of intution? i dont know.

I seem to be somewhat intuitive but only when it comes to family members, for instance I was in school in La Grange tx. my brother still lived in Odessa with my dad and for some reason I just had an awful feeling that something happened to my brother the school let me call my mom and she was crying my brother was in jail and had been kicked out of the house by my dad, weird huh, another time my grandmother went to the hospital nobody thought anything about it but I just for some reason knew she would not be coming home and I called my sister in Memphis and told her she needed to come home and see her, if I hadn't called her she wouldn't have been able to say goodbye as my grandmother passed away 3 days later. I cant explain it but for some reason I just knew.

Intuition, for me is a feeling I get when I am about to react to something important. It tugs at my brain and either says, "do it, trust me, you HAVE to do this." Or says, "Don't do it, trust me, you SHOULD NOT do this!"

Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't.

I agree with everyone here.Sometimes I have got that feeling like things are about to change for me in my life, and then they do.When my grandmother past away I sat up out of a dead sleep and said out loud to myself something is wrong, something just happened. The next day I had that gut feeling like a bad haunt for like 10 hours till my sister called me and told me she passed on.I can tell what people have done sometimes in there life or what kind of person they are by my gut instinct, but I can read body language exceptionally well too, so that helps.Sometimes I just have a feeling someone is talking about me and the next thing I know that person calls me and says they were just talking about me.I seem to be really in tune as far as my family members are concerned as well.Say one of them is going through something, some how I know.

I definitly feel my Intuition has served me well, and kept me out of trouble.I say when you get that strong feeling or Impression about something, you should without a doubt listen to it. original.gif

Are implying then that intuition is some form of mental telephathy? That we're picking up on the conscious/subconscious thoughts of another, which alerts us to that person and that something is going on with them?

intuitions are simply signals you percieve because of some subconscious memory... n how you deal with them is different for different situations. but in a more whole scenario, they are great if you judge them with logic and confidence. the moment a superstition gets linked with it, the entire concept gets spoiled.. what say?

In my opinion, Intuition is using unconscious thoughts to change a small thing that you do that helps you in the long-run.

For example,
One time I was driving to a resturant. There were two choices- I could have gone straight or right to get to the same place in the same amount of time.
You can't see down the path on the right until you are on it.
Usually I chose right, but then I went straight instead and looked to the right to see the road was blocked with a huge stupid semi-truck that got stuck 'jack-knifed' across the road because he couldn't turn.

I've had many intuitions in my life and the biggest and most noticable ones were in times when I was in danger or someone had a seriously and obviouasly ill intention for me in which I withdrew all my attention inward and my eyes widened and time slowed. Someone even said, "there is no one in this guy" to me because I couldn't listen to anything they were saying because my whole attention was inward and not thinking but just existing and sensing something wrong. At least I got through dangerous moments in my life but from now on in the future I know exactly what is going on when I sense a danger and my attention goes inward. For example there was a time in which I was called to an interview for a stupid 8 dollar an hour position that I had to walk out of the interview of because I was interviewed by 3 people 2 of whom turned the third person against me. The third person was the hr manager who called me for the interview and introduced herself to me in one room and told me she was German. But when she took me into another room the other two just stared down and didn't introduce themselves to me and here is the German lady burning her throat with anger of me because I look different and I am Somalian. Thats when I withdrew my attention inward as if in danger and I walked out of the room. Humans are dumb and don't even know it. What made that german woman feel that she can just treat people that way and not get a charge of discrimination surprises me. When I left the interview one of the 3 came by and give me a brochure about the company and I said no thank you. Since then I've had many jobs and haven't been through something like that. Some people are delusional and discriminate and don't even know it.

Yes,I have had many experiences with this, mostly pertaining to family members, which I do not see very often, but know when they are ill, having a bad times in life, and just generally need something.Like when my grandmother past away I had the strongest feeling that something was wrong but didn't know what it was till my sister had called me the next day.My ex wife was a twin, And she was part of a life long scientific experiment in washington d.c. that tried to chronical the kinds of experiences between her and her twin.

Intuition is a psychic ability that allows you to sense things.
