Full Version: Children Hearing Robotic Voices?

My daughters (7 and 8 years old) had an experience this morning, which I am having a hard time figuring out. So, I decided to come here and see if anyone else has some ideas about it.
They are on Easter vacation this week from school. I was having a sleep in, while they played in their room. My oldest daughter had opened the window a little bit to let some fresh air in. She was talking to her little sister when they both distinctively heard a loud clear robotic voice say "Woolah".
They both looked at each other and asked "Did you hear that?" My oldest looked out her window but, no one was there. It was gray, rainy, and mucky outside so, there were no children playing out in the yard.
They said the voice sounded like it was either right outside the window or inside the room. Anyways, they came and woke me up and told me about it. I looked around and tried to come up with something that could make a noise like that and I'm stumped. There were no T.V.s, computers, video games, etc. on and they don't own any toy that makes a "Woolah" sound.
I don't think it was over-active imagination as they both heard it. I also don't think they are lying to me because they are really sweet girls and have never done anything like that before. My youngest one was even a little shaken by the experience.
I looked up on the internet what "Woolah" could mean and I found out it is a slang term for a cigar filled with drugs! rofl.gif This makes the experience seem even stranger. Who would say that? And in a robotic voice?
Does anyone have any ideas? Or maybe similar experiences?
Thanks!

Our concept of robotic voices depicts it as strangly and electrical. If you ever hear any EVP's you will sometimes hear "robotic" type words. Or maybe it is a ghost that had a goiter in it's throat and has to use one of those devices that help people with no voice box speak.

Well it could be worse. They could be hearing a scaly man fish voice shouting 'Im Old Greg!"

I can see where it would be unsettling for the kids...This probably sounds like "duh", but was it windy when they opened the window...Sounds echoing from the wind are very eerie...I have it here when the weather is bad...sounds like garbled words....Can't see them making up the word to mean a cigar full of drugs though lol....

Probably just ordinary sounds distorted a little sound scary to kids. Nothing too scary. Unless of course they hear...

"Im Old Greg!"

Do you guys have an old Furby? If you do, it is probably going off. They have robotic voices as they get old.

My furby went rabid and started screaming "Im Old greg!"

(Wow Ive really milked that one for all its worth)

I have to admist I did find that whole "I'm old Greg" thing funny, especially the rabid furby one LOL

Now back to the topic at hand, the fact that both of them heard it makes it harder to explain and say it was something like their imagination, maybe keep them away from the window, especially if it's a two story house. I would suggest what Undeadskeptic possibly suggested through his humour (lol) check any toys or electronic things to see if they could have made the noise. Now if they both hear it again that would be freaky.
