Ok well the house we currently live in was my grandparents' house for at least 40 years, I think it's 40. Anyway today after I got home from work, and I was in the kitchen and I could have sworn I felt someone poke me on my shoulder. I thought it was my brother, but I turned around and there was no one in the kitchen besides me. And then just now, I was in the other room, and I could have sworn I heard my front door close, and right when I heard that, I went to check and my dog was sitting there looking at the door as if someone had just walked out. And it's 1 in the morning now and I'm the only one awake except for my brother, but he's in the other room. I looked outside and no one was out there. So what do you think? Am I just imagining things?

Your case is not the first. I strongly believe that it is a ghost.

It doesn't sound like you're imagining things to me huh.gif

I would have to say it was probably paranormal . People get poking feelings all the time , but as for the door shutting and the dog staring at the door that is different . Animals are very sensitive to paranormal presents . Pay attention to your dogs reactions in the future surrounding anything you may sense.

A little update:

Just now I thought I felt someone lightly touch me on my arm. Not sure if that was just my imagination or what, but that's what it felt like. Also just a couple minutes before that happened, I just suddenly smelled a perfume smell. But it also kind of smelled like shampoo or whatever, you know like when someone just gets out of the shower. And it's 2:30 AM here and I'm the only one awake. There's no one in the shower or anything. I smelled that for a minute or two and suddenly don't smell it anymore.

It is a know fact that when we humans sweat we exsume a "smell" more commonly know as body order. In fact they say a couplde in the act of making love will set off a certain scent. I think this explains the oder you smell. It is the change in your body temp mixed with the oder already in the air. As for the noises. if you have a digital camera ask what or whoever it is to show themselfs to you. explain to them you want to help them and you're not hear to hurt of harm them. you want to help them understand why they are still here. get to your computer and use ur mic and ask them to come close to you and speak they're name. and when you do all this have the dog in the room with you for a guide. or better yet a cat. ! good luck let me know how it goes.

Fascinating thanks for posting your experiences. It might be visits from your grandparents or your guardian angel possibly. Please keep us posted and try to capture some activity either by evp using your mic or right after you feel something, take several photos. I did this once after my mum heard or felt something and a real not fake orb in motion showed up on a picture.

Hummm its late at night and your in a room on your own. It could be a ghost but the mind can play tricks on people in those circumstances.

Phantom smells are also quite common and not necassirly paranormal in origion, there is a word for it but if forget what its called. Hang on i will google.

*googles*

Its Phantosmia although a more common name for it is an olfactory hallucination. And no your not going mad, olfactory hallucinations are fairly common and can have many earthly causes as well as paranormal ones.

Ive had phantom smells but in my case its always been burnt rubber (i dont really ever get nice smells like cooking bread or perfume). It lasts for a few minutes or so then its gone as quickly as it started. I often get them if ive been getting a lot of deja vus (which seem to come and go). I put them down to anxiety (as i have an anxiety disorder (panic attacks) and can suffer from depression and chronic migraine type headaches so they cause a lot of weird symptoms in and of themselves - migraines make me feel like alice in wonderland for example, i so feel sorry for lewis carrole (sp?), he had migraines too and its where many believe he got his idea for the alice in wonderland stories from), but there are other causes so they are not a sign of mental health issues in and of themselves. They can have natural explanations or they can have paranormal ones.

It could be a spector, but id need more conclusive evidence before i could say for sure as many of the things you are experiencing can be explained naturally and are quite common, even amongst people who dont have an anxiety disorder and migraine headaches.

well if the ghost is visible and scary looking... its a specter.

and if your grandparents did die in that house, they might still be hanging around a bit happy.gif so i wouldnt call it a bad haunting

did your grandparents or some relative ever poke you or touch you lightly at all? that could explain those feelings.

It is possible that you are experiencing a ghost, especially as your dog appeared to see something. I remember once feeling an unexplained draft on the back of my neck as if someone was passing me. My dog was lying several feet away and at that moment she looked up and stared at something over my shoulder. But you need more evidence. Let us know if you see/hear/feel/smell anything else, especially if you do get a photo.

I don't think that is your imagination!

I've been poked on my shoulder a few times.. my first instincts was it was my mother.. imagination, or an experience.. guess we won't never know..

I've had things like that happen to me, at first I thought I imagining it but now... unsure.gif
I don't think it's your imagination. Be careful!

If it were just one incident, I'd probably say it's just your imagination. However, you are experiencing different phenomenon, and I assume you will probably continue to. Something is trying to get your attention. Do you have a family member that has recently passed or is this an anniversary of someone's death? You might consider this.
Gunmunky
That is scary!!!!

My advice is to keep a journal. Date, time, feelings, event and possibly if it is around any birthdays or anniversaries (wedding or death). If you have something recorded, you may start to see a pattern. Anyway, just my thoughts. original.gif Jody

Just a quick note on the "Poking feeling". I get these from time to time and one explanation is an involuntary muscle contraction or twitch. I mainly get them on my back on or neear my shoulder blades but I have also felt them on my forearms, calf muscles or thighs. Sometimes it's a warning I'm going to get a cramp but mostly it feels a bit like being poked and leads to nothing.

Look at the mass of muscles across the body.

It is highly conceivable that sometimes one will contract or twitch involuntarily. That combined with a couple of other small events like a door banging shut in a draft and a belief in ghosts could lead one to the wrong conclusion.
