user posted image rCops in a town plagued by sightings of a creepy 'gnome' have launched a full-scale investigation - after records showed locals have reported seeing the creature for decades. The knee-high person - who wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk - was caught on video two weeks ago by a terrified group of youngsters. Millions of stunned people viewed the chilling clip after The Sun reported the tale - with some sceptics claiming the footage just showed a dwarf causing mischief. But detectives in the Argentinean town of General Guemes have dubbed the gnome the new 'Bigfoot' after hundreds of locals reported actually seeing the creature at least once in their lifetime. Only weeks before it was captured on camera, spooked rail workers called the police to say they had spotted the crab-walking gnome side-stepping its way around the train tracks at night. National newspaper El Tribuno has reported that fear is now so widespread that the town mayor Salta has been inundated with calls from terrified locals and has launched a full scale police enquiry into the affair. He said: “I am a little sceptical because I have never personally seen these gnomes - but it's definitely possible that they exist.

"People here believe in them and we have to respect that. "I do not think that it is completely impossible. Gnomes are part of our culture here.” And Police Commissionaire, José Luis Núñez - who has been charged with tracking down the creature's lair, said: "I personally believe in gnomes as I saw one when I was a child."

Bender.
Gnomes? Come on , let's get serious here...
(Moonlight)
Why are they scared of a creature that possibly doesn't exist and even if it does, it's not like it's robbed a bank or attacked people with a chainsaw.
Saru
If we weren't still in March I would have sworn this was an April fool, I think this is most likely a well publicised prank.
Ghost Ship
This is funny. The evil, wandering gnome of terror strikes again.

Actually, something can be given life without it being real. Look at Big Foot and Nessie. I doubt they are real and yet look how succesful they have become. There are many out there who want to create there own mythical creature that will become legend.

Actually, They are massing for a December 21st, 2012 attack on all banks with miniature chainsaws.

If the Gnome exists..... why fear it when there is so much else to fear....
Techman33
Why are they afraid of it. They are bigger then it and out number it. Beat the crap out of it, and take it in for scientific analayis.

DieChecker
Who can say why some people are afraid of it? Some people are afraid of my 8 pound dog too! My dog is smaller then a human head and yet a lot of people will RUN screaming when she chases them.

Moooooo
Oh come on,

Your first reaction to seeing a gnome (so long as you know its not a dwarf person with a pointy hat) moving across grass like a crab would be to crap your pants a bit and wonder WHAT THE HELL?!?

Don't act like you would'nt be freaked out.

Hmmm, wonde rif it is a dwarf person coming home from a fancy dress party. I bet he'd sue!

Haha, agreed. I'd poop myself and wouldn't know wether it was to run or try with everything I have to sit there and see if it's real.

Back when I was in highschool, we hid our bong in a tree in the woods one winter and told stories about how the gnomes would use it when we weren't around. Then we'd all stand in a circle and sing Pink Floyd's Gnome Song. It was fun.
Yugure
Very interesting! It walks sideways?? XD
InHuman
That would scare me sh**less... late a night, its all quiet, you look out the window and there's a sideways walking dwarf going up and down your street.
lunartwin

Some people would do anything to increase tourism especially during hard economic times like these. I wonder if "Expedia.com" had anything to do with this?

That was the first thing I thought when I saw the video still frame. Travelocity gnome!
After seeing the video I just think it's a miget. The awkward woddle/hop he/she has makes it a strong case for my miget theory. Sorry but I have to ask how many times in your life you think you will hear "miget theory".

Remember me.

Sorry Expedia.com for misrepresenting you as the one with the gnome.

I thought gnomes are cool and cute. But I was wrong about leprechauns. But for real what is the worst damage a "gnome" could do. All I see is a drunk midget prank.

After careful analysis one has to believe it is in fact just a little bigfoot in a gnome suit.
We all know little bigfoot do go south during spring break

Jesus I just saw the video - that thing's adorable! Haha, this is so awesome, either if it's fake or real. I've had my laugh.
B'Elanna
What made the kids so scared of it, the speed it was going it's not like it's going to catch up or be a real threat, I mean, the thing can hardly walk?!? In the article, one of the guys said they're all too scared to go out and one had to be taken to hospital. Riiiiiight. I'd say definately a prank that the 'gnome' was playing on the kids or the whole thing is just a prank and the kids are in on it. Actually it looks a bit like Maggie's 'favourite' star jumpsuit from the Simpsons, don't you think? Could be just me, lol.
remms
damn the gnomes , so thats where they have been all these years . walking sideways causing damn mischief wiggle.gif

Hey! We went to the same school! That you Bubba??? Umma Gumma!!
STIX
Its weird the workers would report seeing it on the rail road tracks...

Also, its weird it walks sideways...

Most likely a prank.

But I know we all wish it was a real gnome from a lost civilization living under the trees in the forests of Argentina.

That would make for a great movie!!! grin2.gif
STIX
On second thought, if I was a midget, this would be exactly what I would do!
therion24
where is the video?

Hey you sceptics! Maybe it's all real.................well ok, maybe it isn't....................*hangs head walks away*

Well said, I believe the same. Especially with the police comissioner saying that he had seen one as a child, extreme P.R. work going on there . Oh, and exactly what the crap were those kids doing outside at 1am. Oh, o.k. Lurking. Sure, just hanging with a ski mask by a large wall in the suburbs talking about their last fishing trip like good ol' elderly children would.
Rojiva
Well, why would they be afraid of it... well lets say you saw a wierd new creature in the woods.. you saw it clear..
How can you roll out all the possibilities that the creature posesses some kind of magical powers?

I wouldn't just be so calm bcus it didnt exist...someday some1 gona pay a hard price for ignoring such possibilities..
LucidElement
yay=.. itsdavid the gnome... haha but whats the big deal of a gnome anyways>
