You know I was thinking today, (oh that's rare, right?? loll) and came up with some good reasons to keep technology from UFO's secret. Even new Medical technology, even if it could save a lot of people, could also kill millions....think of a engineered super germ or virus like ebola, small pox and the black plague combined and as contagious as the flu....or an if Bin laden had stolen the plans for an antimatter bomb. Now he could take out an entire country, not just a city.

Remember the abomb? Well someone leaked out the info, and the Russians built one with our plans; then we made the h-bomb and someone leaked it and the Russians made one and now many contries have one. I don't agree with all the feds reasons to keep the new tech secret, but maybe its better to keep it under wraps until the world stabilizes some more. I think the gov. will eventually "leak" some cheap way to make hydrogen soon, and the other tech will be released a lot slower than I want, but its better than terrorists getting hold of it....it sucks, but times are really bad right now.

Anyone have an opinion?

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Clarke's 3rd Law

If we had discovered a super advanced technology, then power by nature would demand that it be employed. The idea that there is some sort of ethical majority making command decisions isn't proven out by history. If we had super bugs and saucer technologies, they would be sufficiently advanced and we could push our control and domination over the competition well within the acceptable margin of adaptability. No one would have enough time to catch up to us technologically to prevent themselves from being subjugated by foreign technologies.

The first technologies would be used to amass power. Later applications would be used to control dissent and maintain the status quo. The furthest applications would perhaps benefit people and reach the masses for exploitation by dissidents, but it's a long way from the first revelation of a new technology to terrorists using that technology to strike back.

If the infrastructure is in place to hide this stuff, then it is in place to use it in the most brutal and agenda advancing ways possible within the same structure of secrecy that already has this discussion relegated to a strange phenomenon board. We don't have to worry about this stuff falling into the wrong hands. It's already there if it exists, and we just don't know about it.
