Or perhaps... what happens if these prophesies are true; then you would have to consider that
a) the future is destined to happen and thus there must be some sort of controlling force
this controlling force told these diverse cultures that the "world would end", and
c) it all depends upon your interpretation of these doomsday sentiments.

I do think that something will happen in 2012... but what is still undetermined. Maybe there IS a guiding force in the universe......

So let's assume that theses five different cultures all predicted the same thing, "the world would end". Does it say anywhere that "the gods would come down from the heavens with a rain of fire" (plural)? Sounds familiar... but what are these "gods"? Could they be "aliens" (I must admit, I do hate that world... perhaps "Beings more technologically advanced than us, so much so that our early ancestors mistook them as gods, and being unable to visualize even that the earth was ROUND, they let it lie") coming down from the sky? This "rain of fire" might just be exhaust from a rocket... or some other advanced propulsion device. What they'll do when they get here... if they were so "omnipotent" wouldn't it stand to reason that, being now relatively technologically advanced civilization, perhaps they would share their knowledge with us?

Another way to look at the "and the world will end" is to stick "as we know it" on the end... How about this scenario (and I'm drawing upon Erich Von Danagan (can't spell worth a darn if it's not in spell check ^.^) here): Humans were taken from the breadbasket of civilization, bred and advanced intelligently into something similar we are now.... and strategically placed: China, South America, North america, etc. Perhaps... these "gods", who moved them (great numbers it would seem), told when they would be returning to, perhaps, "judge their progress".... which later was translated into a doomsday "Judgement Day".

Those old books sure have some truth to them... ish....

But I digress. What I really am trying to say is that there are for sure more than one interpretations of these legends and that you should not arbitralilly think, "oh, the world is going to end". On to my personal theory...

Well, I'm not too sure if it is personal, as in I am the only who has thought of this (probably not) but anyhow, here it is:

So, the question, does the world end in fire or flood? Fire could symbolize the gods/ETI coming down from the sky, or water could symbolize the theoretical rising water caused by global warming. But the thing that is pretty consistent is, "the world will end". So......

I'm sure you're aware of the zodiac calendar... First off, Pisces, the fishie. Hmmm... fishie. This could represent humanity, because we live on the water planet; something like 70% of the planet is water. So anyhow... we are going, happily swimming along, building and conquering. Dark ages and the Renaissance and then the Industrial age and now the information age. Uh oh, GLOBAL WARMING. I know that people said the age of pisces was over in 2000, but.... I must admit that that seems VERY accurate. Isn't it n 2012 that when the sun crosses the galactic equator, thus entering Aqueous?

Next up: Aquarius. A person pouring out water. What if the fish, representing us, is in that water? Well, it would flow out. What if the person in Aquarius is some sort of ETI? Wouldn't it sand to reason that the age of Aquarius is the age of - wait for it - space travel? How do we not know that there is some giant intergalactic confederation that has rules for developing societies.... watch and let develop UNTIL they can be told "you are not alone" and not have a phsicotic break down (that being said, I'm sure some would...)? Would that qualify as "the end of the world, as we know it"? Indeed, it would be the start of many worlds... unless of course that federation has rules against settling on other planets... But still, our world would be greatly changed.

So, my interpretation of these phophisies: The "gods" will come down from the sky via "fire", global warming and tidal rising will indulge much of the lowlands, and humanity will gain access to the stars, thus the fishie flowing out of the jug of water would be fufilled...

What "five different cultures?"

Most cultures have some kind of cataclysmic prophecy for the end of the world. Not a single one of them has one for the year 2012.

The whole thing is nothing but a scam. Don't take my word for it. Try to find a 2012 "prophecy" yourself. Only modern fringe writers make such prophecies, and they all base them on the end of the Mayan calendar. The Mayans themselves have nothing to say concerning what happens then.

I'd check your facts. The sun very far out from the centre of the galaxy. Barring a completely disastrous, FTL, several-trillion-mile dash the sun will do nothing like going through the galactic centre. And I doubt the greasy streaks of ex-humans left would care very much about it.

I think you might mean "the plane of the galactic centre" or possibly that there will be "an alignment with galactic centre" but that last one requires basic ignorance of plane geometry, since two points are always in some manner of alignment.

I think most people who laugh and joke about these topics are most likely scared and will probably be the main ones in panic or having a nervous breakdown when something completely from their understanding happens. Life is not what it seems. I look around everyday and realize that there has to be more to the life we know. There's STILL SO many things we can't even comprehend or understand. It's foolish to think we know it all or discovered anything for that matter. There's plenty of signs and changes happening on earth now pointing to something happening in the next couple of years. Sure there have been predictions before but this time, their are actually things backing up that possibly something could happen.

ALSO don't think our government will tell you everything.. They give you bits and pieces of what they want you to know so they can keep us in order and stay fully under their power and control. They already know about some event happening in 2012 but they're only doing things to save their own behinds. A lot of our history is hidden and a lot of things don't even make sense. They have sooo much information that could help us but they don't.. why for their own personal gain but possibly in a couple of years.. they will be no more! It's time to snap out of this fantasy world we live in and think for ourselves instead of relying on our governments to tell you everything. I don't trust anything I read on the internet or even period, for that matter. At one site I read hundreds of carefully collected theories about how the government is behind 9/11, then on another site I read hundreds of other carefully collected theories that are just as good and reliable, that say it was Bin Laden. Take the book of Revelation and all the omens of the arrival of the Anti-Christ and Armeggeddon. There are dozens of good websites that each interprete the events of today as the omens, all in their own unique way, and still they're all different yet they all claim that's the true Omen for Armeggeddon. My point is, that everything is complete bullcrap. One says Bush is the anti-Christ, the other says Hitler is the anti-Christ then another one comes in and says the anti-Christ hasn't been born yet or is still a little baby. People squeeze, twist and twirl every event that takes place in the world, to fit into their own interpretation of what is the truth while in fact, nobody knows anything about it. Nobody has ever predicted anything. Everything that people once said back in history is bound to happen at one time or another, it just depends on how people at that time will interprete it.

Now this is absolutly not a shot at any religion or believe. Because like Marcus said: ''There's STILL SO many things we can't even comprehend or understand. I can't believe what I don't know and I don't dismiss what I don't know. Therefore it's all for nothing to try and predict the End of times, or who the Anti-Christ is. Because just wait 5 years untill it's 2013. If we're still here peole will go: 'yeah you all interpreted it wrong. This, that and bla bla wasn't a sign. Now the end will come in 3044.' And if the End is indeed there and slowly the earth get's attacked by an unknown force people will undoubtedly point at their own interpretation like: 'You see! I told you that the coming of flatscreem TV's was an omen!' While infact they know crap, and everything they ever did was find ways to comfort themselves with making themselves believe that they knew it and saw it coming. That's the way it will allways go untill the End finally does come, and humanity will be distingished. That's why I keep every possibility open at all times.



BTW I'm Dutch, and allthough my English is far above average, I sometimes have difficulty translating my thougths in English. I hope I get my overall point across and in case I don't, you'll know why.

I'm not 100% a believer on 2012 or 50%... though I would be foolish to ignore something that can predict something happening. I'm doing research to see if things add up.. I'm not going to lose sleep if such a catastrophe happens anyway. Not like Human beings are some GREAT race anyway. Also we can't be here on earth forever.. life goes through cycles and changes.. Just like the Dinosaurs.. it's a possibility humans may become extinct one day.. paving the way for a new dominant race to roam the earth. Over the last couple months several of us have investigated three soon-to-be prison camps in the Southern California area. We had heard about these sites and wanted to see them for ourselves.

The first one we observed was in Palmdale, California. It is not operating as a prison at the moment but is masquerading as part of a water facility. Now why would there be a facility of this nature out in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no prisoners? Unfortunately it seems you hath missed the understanding entirely. Revelations was written in Greek text like you say. Primarily because Greek was a fluent language of the region, and was so since the breakup of Alexander the Great's empire into sub-kingdoms. Famously we know Tholemy installed himself as Pharoah of Egypt and forged the later dynasties that included Cleopatra. However, the Roman invaders in the Holy Lands did not speak Greek fluenty, and believed Greek to be a useless language. Hence, a revlolutionary opposed to the Roman occupation would write his text in a language that couldn't be easily identified by his overlords.

The early Greek alphabet (unlike most alpha-numeric languages) used characters to represent numbers.

In Greek, 666 does indeed translate into the name of a man; Nero.

The thing of course to remember is that revelations is not a religious text, it was only included by the council of Nicea in the Bible because they believed it to be true at the time. Revelations was a historical text, that told us more about the period back then, then it ever could tell us about the future.

the US economy has already taken a downturn, however what you need to understand is the effect that it has on the lives of the everyday person is small. The days of the great depression won't ever happen again, because we have a secondary cash rate to fall back on....

It wasn't the govt and it wasn't totally the collapse of the housing industry that turned the market into a bear market, it was the fact that we all had little money left in our pockets after we splurged too much on Playstation 3's or our third investment property.

Suddenly, inlfation rises, and the money we used to have is no longer there because we have spent it all.

However, to deter us from spending more money, the govt raises taxable rates on luxury items etc etc.

The point is, your gobbly-dee-gooke about the stock market being an omen of doom on biblical proportions is false. Once inflation gets under control and we all stop spending our money on porn, Playstations and alcohol, the market will slowly restore itself.

That's hardly a stunning revelation, given the current economic situation. I understand the Earth will SPIN AROUND REAL FAST and HURTLE AROUND THE SUN as well.

All ancient prophecies were not created by the groups of people that everyone thinks were responsible. For instance, the Mayans did not create the Mayan calendar. If you actually read their legends you would know that Quetzalcoatl gave them their calendar just like ALL legends from ALL cultures give credit to higher beings who they claim taught them all they know. All of the "mythological" gods are in fact real people and weren't just made up by these people to explain things they could not explain. If you research these gods you will see that they are all almost exactly the same and each god was responsible for teaching the same exact subjects to the various cultures they encountered.

He is the true builder of the Great Pyramid and is the primary teacher of all civilization as well as having been the king of Atlantis. This is the being who gave the Mayans their calendar and is the reason why it is so accurate as it is impossible for the Mayans to have discovered this knowledge on their own.

Could explain why their so SUPERIOR and WAY MORE ADVANCED than us that they are able to see what happens in the future..
