Full Version: I HATE HATE HATE "Orbs"

Ok, I am very hesitant to post this, but I want to get some opinions.

I am the first to say I HATE orbs. Any time I see a posting about orbs or a picture with orbs supposedly in it, I just skip over it. I think they are ONLY dust particles floating in the air. I always get irritated when people claim they are something supernatural. Sooo... with that. tongue.gif

My sister was married over this past weekend and we were taking pictures of her in her new mother-in-laws dining room before we left for the church.

I have a new digital camera and we had several orbs appear in a few pics in the same exact place each time. They were pretty big and bright about a foot from the floor. I took about 6 pics in a row to see if it would keep showing up and it did.

The night before the wedding my sister and I were decorating the dining room area for the Big Easter dinner they were having on Sunday and they asked me to take pictures of the place setting because it turned out so well.

Well when looking at those pictures as well, there are "orbs" in what looks like the same exact spot in the dining room. Several of the pics had them in the same spot, never moving.

If it was dust then I知 wondering why it never moved and it痴 in the same exact spot each time? The lighting was completely different as well, one set taken during the day the other at night.

I知 not saying it wasn稚 dust, but I wonder why the spots only showed up in that spot of the house, dust usually floats to the ground or bounces back up if floating from a breeze of air.

I just thought it strange. Anyone have a good explanation for this?

Mabye just light reflectin' off something shiny. That usually does it depending on the lighting in the room (if its dark you'll actually see the object but if there's light then glare will cover it up a bit)

I agree . there could be something reflective you failed to notice . other than its hard to say for sure without pics original.gif

Yes, that is what I thought at first but I looked around as I知 taking the pics and there was Nothing that a refection could be bouncing off of. The carpet had no reflection, and it was always towards the floor where there was nothing but the legs of the dining room chairs.

I will do that when I get home from work. I deleted most of them to make room on my camera for wedding pics, but I think I have a few I kept.

I totally agree with you on hating orbs!! disgust.gif I've never heard of orbs like this,
but maybe it was just a coincidence that they happen to be in the same spots.

good placement but dust, not paranormal
therion24
that pic is the only one I've seen that brings some merit to the "Orb" thing.

I agree. If you were sitting next to someone with a big halo round their head like that, you'd see it. The camera only sees what is there.

Good post Sho Sho ...before i reply , here's probably the best site i've seen about orbs

http://www.acviews.com/kh/orbs.htm

Orbs are a real bummer because lets face it , they can be reproduced with dust , moisture etc ....there can be no denying that, but then there's just something about some of them thats a little weird, and of course you feel stupid for even thinking they could be anything but dust etc.
Here's a little story i've told here before that you can take or leave it means no odds to me.

My brother died 4 years ago , he was 10 years older than me and for most of our lives we weren't that close because of the age difference plus he lived in London, but in the last 5 years of his life we had been getting closer and closer and the last day we had together before he died was probably the best day out we'd ever had - we went on the lash (for some beverages tongue.gif ) and spent most of the day laughing....
(little did we know what was coming in a few weeks)
Anyhoo i digress , about 6 months after he died i was sitting at home on a Saturday afternoon and i was alone. I was having a few beers and was playing one of his CDs , The song "He aint heavy he's my brother" by the Hollies came on and naturally still being raw i cried and cried (my first real time since he died , helped by the beer , being alone and by the mood set by the song). I'd just got an unwanted digital camera from work and thought to myself "okay we'll try this orb thing" i'd read that if you ask them to appear they are more likely to.
I said out loud , okay bro if you're still around show yerself. I snapped off a picture (without flash, it was a sunny afternoon) and sure enough there was a faint orb in the photo. My interest piqued i said out loud again ...okay this time i'm going to point near the TV go there, i snapped again and sure enough just above the right corner of the (switched off) tv was an orb...this time a little stronger, at this stage my heart was starting to beat a little faster ...i kid you not.
Okay i said again out loud ...This time i'm going to point at your favourite chair and i want a bit more than a blurry circle put your heart into it. I snapped off again and this time i kid you not there was a solid white orb ,not transparant , right in the middle of the chair - exactly where the head would be(when he stayed with us it was his tv chair). At this stage i actually became firghtened and fully expected something to materialise in front of me- honest. I was relieved to see my wife pull into the driveway with my son. When she cam in i went to the kitchen to tell her the story exactly as i've told you- she got excited and asked to see the pics. i went to get the camera but had a feeling of impending doom when i saw my 13 year old son holding it- sure enough he had unneccessarily deleted the three or four photo's id taken to photograph his new skateboard no.gif no.gif crying.gif
Now obviously without the photo's this is just another unvalidated anecdote - but there you have it , it's totally true.
I still feel Orbs are just Dust,Moisture most of the time but because of this personal experience i just cant fully discount them completely....
