i believe that everyone is entitled to a little rant every now and then so here I go,

a couple of day's ago i was walking along and I saw a group of kids.
you know the sort, aged between about 9 to about 13, that group sumed up everything i hate about the youth today.

first of all the frontman of the group, he was about 9 and was smoking a cigar!
the next two kids (also very young) brandishing a bottle of vodka and a bottle of cidar!
the next was a young girl of about 10 wearing what can only be described as a prostitute costume. tiny skirt, tube top, she was covered in make up.
all of these features just sound comical but theres not a word of lie. these children were shouting and swearing and breaking things.

i was gob smacked!

yes well when u live where i do its life not so shocking lol.....the problem is the parents they dont discipline anymore they let the kids do what ever

Sure your entitled to a rant, I had one awhile back about the rudeness of some kids...Let me tell ya, these kids are heading for alot of trouble, and I'm going to blame it on the parents....A 10 year old girl, dressed like that, hanging out with punks is going down the tubes very fast unless she gets straightened out...Sorry but I laughed about the 9 year old smoking a cigar, only because I pictured him gagging and turning green...I'd be interested in finding out where they got the cigars and vodka, although their home would be the first place that comes to mind...Don't you just feel like smacking these little jerks in the head and giving them a lecture...They'd probably continue smoking, drinking and you'd be bought up on child abuse charges...But you know, as many of these little punks are out there, there are still a considerable amount of good kids... original.gif

I can see older teens doing that, but these are just crummy little sh*ts, and unless they're carrying guns or knives I don't see how an older person can be intimated...That's why I'm going for the sneaking it out of the house bit original.gif

If there is a gang of crummy little sh its, people can be intimidated. A lot of the ladies in my family are afraid to go out after dark because of them.
swtp
Sad to say that's an all too familiar sight around here too! And although i was a wild child at those ages too, we were never a danger to anyone but ourselves, and sometimes other groups of kids! But the elderly, and homeless, etc... were off limits! Some of these kids with luck, and a few miricals will grow up, and out of this behavior, sadly though what their doing now will sink alot of them into the pits of dispair! If they live long enough that is!

Well then that's just scary...and the police don't do anything to break these kids up, and what about curfews, do you guys have them over there....In my town, the younger ones can't be on the streets at night unless they are with an adult...There are no restrictions on the 15 and older, but I imagine that if we had big problems there would be...I definitely feel bad for the ladies in your family, but I can see where they are coming from...

Got your beat. There's a 'Smoke Shack' across my way. Where local authorities had to rid of original tenants for giving their kids dope. It's now a shrine of similar practice. Where any number of vehicles is apt to pull up these days and the kids race around the yard. Higher than Peter could ever imagine being aloft of a dream awaiting atop the gates.
Watched a boy about 7 or so, get called a punk by his 11 or so year old sister. Then, as she picked herself up from getting run over by his Big Wheel, she smiled. And, said nothing. Then, they all shared a hit of something.
I complained at the cop that was within ear shot, but he was watching me. Because, you see, I CAN'T do anything wrong. See a lot of OD's and drug induced forms of permanent psychosis, also.

Cops don't seem to mind the trespassers, and they never have indicated against such activity. 'Cept when a silly teenage girl threw what appeared to be 1/4 kg of a white powdery substance around. Having fun with the lawlessness, I guess. Two detectives came up, and spent about 20 minutes there. Then left. Then the girl came out screaming: "They took all my Sh*t". Great neighborhood, the cops Swerve&Project...

a group of underage smoker n ? seen a lot of them here, since no law against it (i guess) and sure sometimes they get drunk too.

but what i hate most is this bunch of kids standing in red light, and when they see truck, they just running and jump in at the back trying to get free ride. sometimes only the big kids who succes, and the smaller are fallin on road. and still they try again.

and whos unlucky, get hit by another car.

Don't you have your own faults you can worry about?

Yeah kid's these days can be arrogant and irresponsible, but what's new? I'm sure previous generations were just as bad. I'm sure this isn't the first time kid's that age have tried smoking and drinking, nor will it be the last.
jesspy
wow well you are not the only one here in oz we have problems too infact my next door neighbors oldest kid is a problem he joined a "gang" at the age of ten. He told his mum he was old enough to do what he pleased (again he is 10) and stayed in the city until all hours of the night. He was with a bunch of youths between 7-18 of age who basically hung around with baseball bats and knives smoking and drinking in public! Basically they wanted to go to another part of the city and i quote "go bash the crap out of those other gangs and their b****es" and again he is ten with two younger sisters and a younger brother aged between 2 - 8

I hate how easy kids get away with things. IMO the least that should be done is if you area parent you have to attend monthly parenting courses to help control kids. A step up is to allow corporal punishment (alot of kids get away with it cause parents arent able to do anything)
the next step get them early remove kids who are an issuse from homes if parents arent being parents
if that doesnt work conscription of problem youths into the military or even having a full on 15-21 yrs conscription
finally licensing people to have kids (which i strongly believe in) is the ultimate way to stop these kids

i find it annoying when kids a misbehaving and you cant do nothing about it in fear of being judged or charged with assault. My granddad says respect and discipline were beaten into him kids today walk all over their parents and with kids having kids its just going to get worse

thats my opinion you can love me or hate me for it hmm.gif
Fluffybunny
Hmmm...it seems kids have been out of control for at least two thousand years...

I hate kids today. I really don't. They think that they can get away with anything & everything. When I was younger, when I did something. I got into trouble & punished. But now it's completely different.

The smoking & drinking doesn't bother me so much. I think it's bad and dangerous for the kids since it reduces the miniscule amount of common sense that kids that age have.

But what really bothers me is things like torturing the homeless. That's not childhood rebellion-- that's sick.

where i live, you cant walk around a corner without seeing a group of atleast 5 of these kids. its worse here though, a couple of weeks ago a group of them put fireworks in my neighbours shed and blew it up. my sister has also joined one of those so called "gangs" and got expelled from school for gettin a bunch of 11 and 12 year olds drunk to the point they threw up. its a sick world today, however there are some good kids left, like me for example tongue.gif not one to toot my own horn but im 16 and havent been in any trouble with the police, i dont hang around in gangs and im usually in for about 9 (usually tongue.gif)

I like to think that he was trying to emulate Winston Churchill.

While reading the replies I couldn't help but think of my oldest child, who's 12. I have told her that if I EVER catch her doing anything like what has been described previously, we will be going to the hospital. We'll have to remove a part of my anatomy from a part of her anatomy. (In other words, I'll put my foot in her rear.) yes.gif

Heart call and of wee Babes…

I was going to say that it starts in the home when they a born and what we teach to them actually it starts in the hearts of us and what environment we raise them in doesn’t it, I mean how is that we can love our Grand-Babies and yet we are listening to metal, or Merlyn Manson, and playing Grand Theft Auto in the Homes we raise them within. Doesn’t our heart choices reflect and make them, and are they not mirror images of us, are we thus mirrored images of God, or Satan.…Which fruit we choose to nourish our children with so shall they become we are all human fallible being a parent is a lot of responsibly and some do not even see this as fact...nor do they take responsibly for being a Parent...I understand the Hardest part of being a responsible parent/ Grand-Parent is the we as human beings are living constantly changing organic organisms, in a constant motion of change and that includes Emotionally, physically, and sometimes spiritually, but the in striving to achieve the balance the center if we can is where we become the best as parents…if our children can be within this balance it is very much what we strive for...but they also have outside the home influences and how we teach our children and Grand-Children how to handle these outside influences will make the difference...…Pavot

WHITE, i mean, its not like the founders of this country were white right?(Back to the complaint 3 scentences ago original.gif) Most of the problems i had with being picked on by groups of mexicans ended around the the beginning of the 8th grade, when i realized that all of these 'gangsters' were just blowing smoke, i spent 3 days in In-School-Suspension for slamming a gangsters head in a locker until he was unconcious, i was never messed with again. I've seen that most of the childs behvior come from the parents not giving a flying f***. It's just not right..

NOT THA SWEARZ!!!

You can't definitively say it's the parents fault, a parent can't force a child to do anything, they have this thing called free will.

I see kids like that all the time and it troubles me no end. I feel so frustrated because I can't go over to them, smack them on the head and tell them to straighten up.

Now, the irony.

When I was in my early-mid teens my friends and I acted the very same way. One of our group was only 12, yet he could handle as much hard liquor as any of us (and that was a lot!) There were two girls who hung with us who always dressed and acted sl*tty, yet they really weren't as promiscuous as everyone assumed. Because of our age we rode illegal dirt bikes on the street, yet none of us ever got caught. There were two in our group who were heavily into theft, but the rest of us never got involved in their crimes.

Out of the nine of us, two guys went on to get Ph.D. in electronics and secure extremely well paying jobs (one of them is the 12 year old I mentioned), two guys opened their own business and are doing quite well, the two girls got married (one is still married to her first husband and the other divorced, but remarried and has been happy for 14 years now), and one guy sells real estate. Only one of our group went on to destroy his life and die because of drug and alcohol abuse in his early 30s.

As for me, well, I'm still around (knock on wood).

As I grew older, I realized that all of our parents did their best to raise us in the best way possible. I do not condone anything my friends or I did. We were, in fact, rebellious and idiotic.

I'm simply stating that no one can be sure just how kids who act in that manner will eventually turn out. Still, it makes me feel sad, but maybe that's because I'm an old fart now. hmm.gif

intresting point made there I know after watching violent tv shows or playing games i get worked up so i see your point. But its the choice of the individual what they feed upon and that does affect others around you especially kiddies.

Whenever I see kids like that, I seriously want to hit them, it frustrates me so much. Yeah, OK, we've all rebelled against our parents - I think I started going out drinking with friends at around the age of 14. But the point is, we were just out for a laugh, we wouldn't have threatened anyone, I even remember a time an old woman slipped carrying her shopping and we completely forgot about a bottle of vodka, it sobered us up so quickly. I'm only talking about a few years back, and I'm proud of the fact that I've never in my life smoked - so what the hell is encouraging the preteens? It genuinely disgusts me, and this is coming from a guy who has only recently matured.

See kids, here's proof that people who get at you for trying to grow up too quickly do know how you feel.

I honestly have to say that I don't hate our generation.
I just think that perhaps there are a few (tens of millions of) individuals who just lack the discipline that previous generations have.
The parents of said preteens were raised in the 60s/70s, a time full a great deal of social/political change.
You can't honestly expect them to raise their children completely opposite to how they were raised themselves?

Or something like that dontgetit.gif

I fully believe you.

Yesterday, I was walking to work, I walked past three kids (approx. 12 years old apiece). Bearing in mind I was the other side of the road, I felt a "ping" on my leg - the culprit? It was a stone thrown by these brats, I didn't even know them, they had never seen me and I was not even looking at them! I shot them a look to which the female stated "It wasn't me, it was him" pointing to the male to her left.

I replied, without shame I hasten to add "well don't, you are taking he effing piss!" (substitute "effing" for the real word and you get my drift!)

Listen people, these kids wish to act in a way they consider "grown up" - they can damn well take the bloody consequences! I am walking along the road, going to work, I don 't need some brattish upstart throwing stones at me, as for me swearing at them??? Too right, the little brats need a bloody good spanking, they've got no respect and couldn't give a crap about anybody else. Don't let their lack of age fool you!!! wink2.gif
40nrockinon
Yeah, I used to think how kids acted "when I was their age". It has changed a lot. I think there are a lot of things contributing to this problem...family lives in constant change, education seeming to be lacking, poor role models, parents not being taught how to parent, people not being held accountable for their actions (we see this all over the news), lack of guidance...the list is endless.

I wish I knew what needed to be done to turn this tide. All I know is that I'm always watching what goes on around me. I've already had a 9 yr. old boy threaten to bash my head in with a rock before. I wouldn't have put it passed him at all!!! He scared me. I'd hate to see how an eldery person would react to him. **shaking her head in disbelief**
