I agree with TheDukeOfNoodleness, I would think that it would be lonely for both of you. Much of it's allure of being a friend to a ghost, I would think hauntings should be not done, to anyone. Once I have come to know a particular ghost, if this does happen, I would hope to help it cross over and then it wouldn't be lonely here on this side.

Buy a Ouija board. Ask things about them. Make sure u ask the right q's..in all seriousness of course.
