Personally i used to see one in my periperhal vision that was over 6 ft tall, male and wearing what looked like a 1930s brimmed hat that appeared to shoot across my frontroom wall and vanish into it the minute i tried to get a proper look at it.

I have not seen my resident shadow ghost for a while, but i did used to see him quite often on and off. He seemed to have a preference for my frontroom as i never saw him any where else in the house.

Personally i put it down to a trick of the eyes (tired eyes) as usually id been staring at the computer or tv for a while in the dark. I thought maybe it was due to car lights going past outside creating moving shadows on the wall but it used to happen when i had the curtains drawn so i ruled out that idea. Whats your theory on shadow ghosts?

My cousin had a visiting ghost with a brim hat on and he looked like he was from the thirties. As well, i have had other friends who have seen shadow people appear in the windows of their house.

Personally i have seen some amazing things will say that i believe it but i still haven't said anything here on UM . Not yet anyway.

most people see spirits out of the corner of the eye.
the trick is to get used to watching things from your perifrial vision.
i lived in a house where a couple of junkies od'ed, guy and a girl.
she used to sit and watch me play guitar.

The definately exist.

What they are is another matter altogether.

Perhaps they are otherwordly interior decorators, whipping around peoples homes for ideas and inspiration. I always did think my frontroom had a nice colour scheme lol

Seriously though, i have no idea what they are either, even though i put them down tricks of the eye (seems the most logical option), that doesnt mean to say im right, so im more than interested in peoples theories in regards to what they think they are.

While I am sure that many claimed shadow sightings are tricks of the eye, there still are a number of very credible sightings as well as some good pics and video.

personally, ive seen one... except it was white... i see it every night before i go to sleep... well most of the time. so im hoping since its white its not an "evil" one

The last sighting I had was March 25th, 2008. I know they exist, because I see them every once in a while.

Actually, the footage Ghost Hunters caught in the basement (not sure what episode) behind the pool table of the well defined 4 ft. shadow person was the best evidence I thought they had come across.

I haven't seen a shadow ghost in the form of a person -- but out of my periperhal vision I have seen a small shadow that darts across the hall and disappears into the wall. I live in a trailer with a long dark hall so I know it is not reflections of any kind. I have seen this type of shadow ghosts for some years, when I lived in a house I would catch sight of one darting in a room. I bought a book by Robert Bruce titled "Practical Psychic Self-Defense" but haven't finished reading it as yet. He refers to what he calls "Negs" for short, ie. "negative spirit beings" or "negative energy". This type of Neg likes to hang out in darker places and so is more likely found in houses where there are naturally more dark or dusky rooms and places. Possibly there is some merit to this, as I don't see them now except once in awhile in the hall.

I thnik that the shadow figures are the ghosts getting to the point of partial manifestation. They have gathered all that energy and they want to show themselves but they don't have enough energy at the time to show a full manifestation. like its in a hurry to just show itself. I have personally had an experience when I was a kid. I was like three or so and I saw what looked like a bowling pin shadow floating around a hall light out of my room. later in life without my father knowing about my experience, he told me that one time he was in the house by himself when we had moved to Wisconsin, (took place in North Carolina) that he was still in North Carolina and he woke up cause he heard the back door open so he got ready to take someone out. Found nobody in the whole house, then he went back to laying on the couch and heard the door slide a shut again. Again he got up and nobody was there. So yeah that was kinda cool. I think that something has to be said about the periferal vision. why is it that you can see them better with periferal vision and when you look straight you can't see them. It would be cool if an eye doctor could come up with glasses that mimicked the periferal vision so you can look straight at them.

The only answer we have ever received on EVP was

"They are the brothers of death."

Very vague with many possible meanings.

OK second time lucky, I posted this on another thread and was pointed here my a very helpful bod :

"a few months back I was up late and I went to bed around 12:30am. As I went up stairs I got the feeling that something was behind me. When I got to the top I turned around to close our daughters stairgate as I did this I saw the shadowy shape of the head and shoulders of a man sized figure coming up about 6 or 7 steps behind me. It wasn't even a trick of the light as I never turn on the hall light in case it wakes up my kids. So the only light source was the window in the front door and this light would have to have "bent" to cast this shadow.
I watched it for a moment and then it vanished, it felt as if i was seeing it half real and half in my "mind's eye" and so I would have put it down to tiredness as well apart for when I came out of the toilet after this my 7 year old was standing on the landing having woken up and the first thing she said was "Daddy I think I've just seen a man coming up the stairs", despite the fact I hadn't said a word to her."

This isn't the only "paranormal" thing that i've experienced but it is one that seemed to be backed up by someone else.
