The elephant is actually guided in the pictures that resemble real object.
However the pictures are sold to help preserve Asian elephants and the elephants used are retired working elephants.
Pictures where the elephant is not guided are a little more abstract.

Nice article about these amazing animals known for their intelligence and memory.....I've seen reads of their paintings, but never on the music, that would be a video I would love to see...I hope they continue to draw in the money, it would be a shame if the elephant truly became an endangered species...Thanks for the links Matt... thumbsup.gif

I'd have to say that's just amazing. Whether the elephant is trained to paint like that or not, animal intelligence still continues to amaze me. Good find! thumbsup.gif

I've heard of elephants painting, but never seen them paint a recognizable image. Guided or not, that is really an eye opener.

Could you imagine having that in your house and telling people it was painted by an elephant? I think it'd be pretty cool. happy.gif

I just recieved that in my e mail, and was really amazed by his ability! That's one very talented elly to be sure! I think they are such incredibly beautiful animals, and hope they don't face extinction! There are far too many animals we have lost, and are dwindling in their numbers! We really need to be better stewards of this planet for all living things to have a safe and healthy life!

elephants are so far advanced than other animals.. they grieve for their lost family members.. a special I've seen revealed that they even shed tears at their member's deaths.. not too long ago it was discovered that they can even recognize themselves in mirrors-

That does not make them more advanced than other animals, i'll think you'll find Homo sapiens display those traits too. Those are traits that are specific to group living animals. Orca's show far greater communication skills even to the point of dialect and active teaching. Hyaena will not let other members of their family starve, they will let those that need food most eat first.
Mirror recognition is not representative of intelligence as sight is not always the primary sense for recognition of others in all animals. Sharks use smell and electricity for example and dogs use smell, bats use sound.

Stunning, literally. My jaw dropped as soon as I saw him going through the second stroke. Bravo! Dear elephant, bravo.

Despite the elephant being guided by the man, it's still impressive for both owner an elephant. I'd certainly buy a painting of an elephant by an elephant. :]
