I'm not sure whether this has been posted yet or not, but this robot is amazing. How it recouperates from being pushed, and balances itself on ice is just phenomenal.

I wonder - was it programmed specifically to emulate animal movements, or was its eerie similarity to a deer or dog simply a byproduct of optimizing its motions for its shape and balance?

I'm keen to think it's a byproduct, as you say... Can't escape the ways of nature...

i read that robot was made for the army to bring help to soldiers bringing stuff material etc...

kinda eerie how it looks like an animal when it corrects itself after slipping/stumbling. I can definately see that robot being mounted with a serious arsenal and kicking some ass in a warzone!

that actually gave me the creeps. it was amazing how it moved. that is way too realistic. you almost get a sense that it is alive.
