When i watched this i thought it might be mildly interesting...a wave of pressure crossing the Sun.But look at the ruddy scale of it in comparison to the Sun, it's Huuuuuuge ...a bit scary looking ohmy.gif

These things are logical results of a solar explosion...which in itself is quite a remarkable thing to see.
Seeing the wave spread across the surface of the Sun at an average speed of about 60,000 MPH is an illustration of the awesome power in the Universe.

A bit scary too, when you contemplate that such a wave would've swept the entire surface of the Earth bare in about 7 minutes, were we to have been in its path!

Yet, this reflects only a cosmically tiny burp of energy relatrive to other energetic events we've observed!

It's difficult to contemplate...!

Indeed. That would completely suck if the Earth got swiped by such a power in an instant. Although, that does keep me pondering on the time that Earth will no longer be.

It has, many, many times. We are fortunate in having a strong magnetic field and a thick atmosphere that protects us from such events.
