I have a copy of Rome Total War - Gold edition. And lateley it has been misbehaving. It won't let me start a new campain, or load a previous one. I have tried both versions - Rome Total War and Barbarian invasion, and each time it starts to load, an error occurs. I'm not sure why this is. Today I was playing The Battle for Middle earth 2, and got a similar error after playing for a certain ammount of time in skirmish games. I have not tried any other games lateley but I might try in a minute to see if there are similar problems. Not sure if there is anything anyone can do to help but any suggestions would be nice. I'll try it again, and write down what it says on the screen.

Without more information you leave the table open for hundreds of suggestions as to what the issue could be, but, I will give you my take on a probable cause.

If this is happening with multiple games, the likely culprit would be something with either your video card or Direct X. Make sure the drivers for your card are up to date and check your version of Direct X.

We kinda need to know what you are running and what exactly the error is...

what o.s are you using- vista still has alot of kinks to work out, especially with games and programs that use alot of memory and graphics....

Using Xp. The Game menu works fine, tried to start a new game just now and it came up with something about large city wall, and something about updating cas loader libs. I will try a few things to see if I can fix it.

I can run a skirmish, or qquick battle, but campain fails. I tried lowering the setting, and it makes no difference. I think it may have something to do with disk space.

have you tried re-installing it and starting from scratch- maybe some of the game system files became corrupted
