It says I have no sound device, I really dont know what to do, I need in depth help, not suggestions or 'have you tried this' I most likely have tried it, I just want to know the easiest way to solve this.

I'm assuming you have a sound card and it was working at one point. I also assume that you rebooted your system.

So, you need to check you device manager and see if it is recognized. In Win 2000...go to control panel and look for system. Inside system, click hardware and then click device manager. Then click your audio device and right click your mouse...check for new hardware.

You assumed correctly, and I have windows XP.

I would say try reinstalling the latest drives search for them on google or something.
If that dont work and its not on board (can be unplugged) unplug it and plug it back in making sure its firmly in place and screwed in. Being carefull about static you can rub your hands on your pc case or a metal surface to discharge it so you dont damage your hardware.
i would also suggest checking device to do so click on start click control panel then system then click the hardware tab and click device manager.
when on device manager click sound video and game controllers. if theres a explanation mark on your soundcard right click and click properties and it will tell you either the device cannot start (which probably means need a new soundcard hardware failure) or the drivers need to be installed. Im not to experienced so it may say other things if all else fails on the properties of your soundcard on device manager check at the bottom where it says device usage if its set to do not use this device (disable) click the down arrow and change it to use this device (enable) if all else fails buy a new soundcard especialy if you receive the (cannot start device) error on device manager. Good luck with sorting out your problem original.gif
