If you didn't realize it yet, comedians are the only people who tell you the truth. Why? Because in most regards the truth is funny, and the public is not angered at hearing the truth when it comes from someone who makes them laugh. Is this a funny clip from george carlin above?Yes, it is! I laughed myself to death! But then, is it really that funny?

Oh yes, it goes on and on...

...Here's another pack of low grade morons who oughta be locked in portable toilets and set on fire, These people with bumper stickers that say we are the proud parents of an honor student at the franklin school, ya know? Or the midveil academy, or whatever other innocent sounding name that has been assigned to the indoctrination center where their child has been sent to be stripped of his individuality and turned into an obedient soul-dead conformist member of the american consumer culture...

Why? because smart people see it going on, so the comedians try to soften the blow with truth that is "funny"

All countries have educational dilemas. Some comedian running his mouth and talking ugly, in a club full of drinkers, doesn't solve a thing.

Who easier to get money from, than dumb beer drinkers?

I don't even want to listen to him.

I think most comedians try to hard to be funny. Being funny shouldn't require effort, should be spontaneous IMHO.

Well I can tell you is that the relgion you learn in school is very misleading. True religion doesn't cost anything and can be done anywear at any time. Most people pray for materialistic things but praying to heal aflictions seems to be the only thing that gets answered. Thats mainly becasue the materialistic things don't really matter. Usually you want what you can't have and if you happan to get it you never really wanted it in the first place. If you pray for the things that are important then they will be answered. Wining the lotto isen't one of those things.

Praying is not to ask with words it's to be experienced.

When the US government was being created long ago, with it's meticulously crafted Constitution and Bill of Rights, the founders had a deathly fear of a powerful central government. They gave this government but a handful of powers, those things common to all the states...defense, international treaties, interstate commerce and the like.

Since then, much more recently, the idea of the Constitution as a "liviing document" open to interpretation beyond the words and ideals written have pervaded. Suddenly, elementary schools are driven by Federal dictates and grossly dependant on their monies which dictates curriculum, intrastate transport is controlled by the Feds due to use of state, but federally funded, roadways, and poverty is "fought" by Washington bueracrats and not friends, churches, and neighbors. Does anyone remember the old phrase "don't make a Federal case out of it"? Back when the getting the feds involved really meant something. It's a joke from a distant past now. We're in a recession, but every kid seems to have a cell phone and iPod.

The central government is broken, and wastes horrific amounts of cash. The culture follows suit, becoming dependant on the feds for everything, even dictating common sense. Look at Katrina, a completely government dependant populace without the means or or sense to get out of Dodge, then immediately screaming when FEMA wasn't there the next day. Local authorities abandoned them, and FEMA took the heat for a "first response" failure that wasn't even their job. Folks were whining about Bush not being there...what the hell's he going to do that a PFC Guardsman can't do? Billions wasted there, al federal program crap. The locals, with a fraction of that money, could have, or should have, done far better. But they never learned how to do things for themselves, just how to cry to the powers above for help.

Now folks that are in mortgages too big for them (for various reasons) are the latest "victims" and the great Fed is riding in to save them. Guess what, all these billions are OUR money, not the Fed's or the folks in financial straits often due to their own irresponsibility. My money, but do I get any thanks for bailing them out...nobody's forgiving MY debt. Folks seem to forget that the "Government" has no money of it's own, that's OUR money, OUR power they so willingly take and toss about for political gain.

Looking at the youTube generation, the ignorance, the lack of responsibility or accountability, it's a frightening future we face, with more ignorance and stupidity ahead. More money obviously doesn't solve problems, in so many cases it creates them.

How do you boil a frog?

Count me with that crowd. Definitely.

I like George Carlin - I think he's hilarous. And yeah, he does speak truth on many occasions.

I think it will be when people lose their rationality and their critical thinking skills to a level that allows them to believe that everything the government does is a deception...and thus allows them the psychological facility of being able to construct horrors out of nothing.

Further, it will have to wait until they completely abandon their god-given gift of self-reliance and whatever notions of personal responsibility they have.

That is the way it is in this country ,we need to teach our children well A lot more well! happy.gif

You mean gain rationality and critical thinking skills to a level where they no longer rely on the mainstream for their god-given gift of self-reliance, personal responsibility, and a real opinion...
Thus allowing them the psychological facilities to cut down the "nothing" they are presented with in order to see the horror of the corporate mindset.

I have the right to speak my mind, as do you.

How long will we still have this right?

This is a strange conglomeration of thoughts...

Yes, I do mean the rationality and critical thinking skills to a level where people don't rely on the mainstream to dicatate their thoughts and positions (like Olberman, for instance...????).

The problem is, that you then add "the horror of the corporate mindset"...which is precisley what the mainstream presents to you.

Apparently, we still do, and will for a long time to come.
You see, you haven't been abducted by the MIB yet, and assimilated, with all the nonsense you spew.
Indeed, even people like Kerry and Murtha, who have been shown to have lied outright are allowed to do so in the Congress of the United States without Bush's MIB coming to take them out.

...And while they're doing that, Harry Reid abuses his power as Senate Majority Leader (which will probably be short lived, so long as his constuents, who have a rather low opinion of him, remember), by actually attempting to use the Senate of the United States to censure and silence a private citizen!

He's still there...as ineffectual as ever, probably more so, thanks to the brilliant maneuver by said private citizen...not silenced overtly, not eliminated by Bush and his cronies.

No, you're right to express your opinion will remain...unfortunately, you're not in a position of power, so you might learn that personal responsibility for unfounded opinions has a price attached to it...

Then again, it is probably a very good thing that you're not in a position of responsibility.

Uhh, I think the video he linked is in a theater where they don't allow booze. And maybe you don't want to listen because you fear that he might be right and your world view might be shattered.

Mr. Carlins wordplay and control of language is second to none in the comedic world. I think he's one of the funniest comedians ever to grace the world, and funniest alive now that Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks are gone. His routine on 'Stuff' is a true masterpiece.

Same central government? That is downright ridiculous. You're right about the deceived part and I'll tell you why: Politicians are the most dishonest, greedy and villainous people to grace the planet, they lie to us so we vote them in, they lie to us in their daily lives, and they lie to us to try to maintain their hold of power. It's simple, a system filled with politicians, with a lot to hide will deceive the people that put them into power. That goes for all forms of government, a dictator lies to the people so they don't stage a revolution and remove him from power, a senator or MP lies to people so that they may be reelected. It's nothing more than that. Don't be so eager to distrust your government that you throw out your own logic and reason.
