ROCHESTER, Wash. Authorities say a woman has been found living with hundreds of rats and four malnourished snakes in a home outside Rochester.

Thurston County Animal Services Director Susanne Beauregard says an official from the Area Agency on Aging alerted authorities about a month ago, but the woman has been uncooperative. She says the woman calls the rats her friends.

On Wednesday a search warrant was obtained and officers found the floor covered with rat droppings and the carpets soggy with rat urine. Beauregard says two malnourished boa constrictors, a corn snake and a king snake were seized from cages.

Investigators believe the woman bought some rats to feed the boa constrictors, but they got loose and filled the house with their offspring.

That is just so gross, and why did it take so long to get a search warrant when they were informed about this..

Wow... A lady-Willard. huh.gif That's nasty.
That house must reek. I am imagining the stench of hundreds of rats, and its beyond terrible. You'd have to be pretty looney in the first place to allow the snake food to remain loose. Rats aren't that hard to catch alive, and probably easier to kill.

Rats are lovely little creatures. They're highly intelligent and affectionate. They're also remarkably well-groomed, clean creatures. Their cages need to be cleaned frequently, though. I miss 3 of my deceased babies pretty bad. Needless to say, I love the little buddies. wub.gif

I had pet rats too. And mice. They're so sweet. . .and so much easier to train than all the dogs I've had. lol. . . It's crazy to think the snakes were starving in their cages while there was a feast just waiting for them outside. . .
