CHARLES TOWN, W.Va.

The daughter and son-in-law of a Charles Town woman who died made a gruesome discovery while going through her bedroom closet-the decomposing body of another woman wrapped in plastic and a sleeping bag.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is trying to identify the corpse found April 3, a day after Beatrice Magaha suffered a stroke outside her home and hit her head. Magaha, who was in her early 60's, was discovered by her daughter and died on the way to the hospital, Sgt. R.S. Sell said Wednesday.

The next day, the daughter and her husband called police after being overwhelmed by the smell coming from the closet.

Sell said he found the body of an elderly woman wrapped in layers on the closet floor. It appeared to have been there for awhile.

While an autopsy turned up no evidence of foul play, Sell said the death is being treated as suspicious.

DNA samples were taken from the body in an attempt to identify the remains. It could be several weeks before lab tests are available, Sell said.

Sell said another woman had lived with Magaha but family members had not seen her for a year or two. They also told Sell that whenever they visited Magaha, she would not allow them inside her home.

How horrible, I would have definitely been suspicious if I wasn't allowed inside a home to visit a family member....

dontgetit.gif Wow, talk about a true case of having skeletons in your closet, thats just scary.

It sounds like the woman died and the mother was (for some reason) too scared to report the body. Although that does sound suspicious :/

Ive been racking my brain about this one, cant come up with anything.

Life insurance, old ducks lovers quarrel, "ewwww", Occupational Health and Saftey mishap.
Couldnt bare to lose a good friend, wholely and souly. Fear of being lonely at that age must be terrible.

"If" here say, she had the means to keep the corpes in her closet, she had the 'smarts' means to sort out some sort of evidence to fake the deasesd's death. Just a though, if anyone was wondering! devil.gif

blink.gif Sounds really strange to me,since the two women weren't related. It maybe the mom was getting the woman's mail and keeping any money the deceased recieved. Weird Huh!
