I dont trust this as "evidence". The fact that the photographer admits to slow shutter speed is very telling. He just gave it away right there. I think even the fact that the red light from the pickup reflecting on the figure demonstrates that it is indeed a "flesh and blood" human. I think that the traffic is moving slower than 15mph due to the closeness in which the vehicles are traveling to one another. You simply do not do up to that speed at such close proximity. Also, there are legs, but from the way the person was walking, you can actually see one leg bent up behind the front one, as in walking. There is also a sort of reflective strip on the side of the figure, depicting clothing.

The other thing that makes it suspect is that the pickup beside the figure looks like it is stopped next to the boxes (not sure what they are - newspaper boxes?) and that the figure is actually the driver walking around behind his truck.

I say this is a severely misinterpreted photo (not fake). It doesn't even look that compelling to me.

ive seen shadow people before(not in a cam or photo) and they do look alot like that.

I don't doubt that they do look like this, however, looking at this photo, there are many things that stand out as very telling or extremely suggestive that this is indeed a human, as opposed to a shadow ghost.
silverracerkh2005
yeah,i think its the cam too,but it is the most shadow person looking pic ive seen.im still trying to get mine on cam.
NoahJaymes
in this type of environment, a still if you will with all the motion, all the lights, you will get the potentiality of something like this occuring. If I would have to venture into a guess, looks like one of the beasts from the movie underworld lol
bogcreeper
I have seen shadow people, but it was at night and with that amount of light I could not see through it at all. This is a very interesting photo. I would love to see what "debunkers" would do with this.
NoahJaymes
Sure.....It is easily done actually. Put your camera on a low setting, go to a place like vegas where lights are everywhere and traffic is streaming along....Take a picture of the crowd...I bet you will get a few blurs in the crowd.

I am into photography and I do occasionally get blurs, but I have not had one like this. Mine were streaky, this one is not. Mine put extra blur on the objects behind it. This one has not. It is very very possible that this is the case. I cannot find a connection yet though.
Corthos
Wow, that's a really great find. I think it's probably a camera issue as well, but usually when i've seen other blurring effects of that sort some part of the blurred image will appear 'solid', usually in the middle, where there would be something solid there through the whole shutter click, with transparency on the outsides, but this one has a similar opacity/texture overall. Really interesting.

Edit: Also, he's right about the way the light is reflecting off the shadow. It's not streaked as it would be with if the object it was reflecting off of were blurred.
silverracerkh2005
i looked at the that pic again. maybe it is not a cam issue.the cars are in good focus.a human would be moving less than 15 mph. and less than the cars,so if its a cam issue why are the cars not blurred? or see through as the person?
Clovis
If it is not a long exposure it must be photoshopped. I have seen a shadow person once and you could not see through it. You could tell it had dimension and occupied physical space but it was not transparent. It had no details you could make out, it was just black.

I agree with your statement about the shadowman. The one that follows me is not transparent and does indeed take up physical space. I have however seen him outside of his jet black appearance, however that was only once.

What this photo is, as another has already said. Is a camera set on a low shutter speed as the person is panning the background. Plain and simple. This would be the outcome of such camera settings and yes, it may be photoshopped a bit.

But then again... you never know, it could be real.

Great find from a talented photographer.

i have one i see on a regular basis, she IS somewhat transparent, and mine DOES have detail.i dont think its shutter speed,as the cars are moving faster and are not blured.not that im doubting you but i doubt all shadow people look the same.to say its not a shadow person cus it looks different than yours isnt true tho.

I mentioned this earlier. I do not believe that the cars were moving that fast. They are pretty close together to be doing that speed. That's regular side street speed, right? (I converted to kph) There are several reasons why i do not believe the cars are going that fast.

1. The non blur of them
2. The closeness in proximity of the cars to one another (looks like perhaps 1 second apart or less)
3. The circumstances given surrounding the photo (busy street on July 4?) then there are going to be people all over the street thus again making cars go slower
4. Beach traffic. Again, along a beach front, I do not believe that the speed limit is 15mph.

I could be wrong about any of these, but as with any of these Coast to Coast photos, the explanation of the person who took the photo is suspect. Everyone wants to believe they have THE best ghost photo. For instance (quote from Coast to Coast): The photo clearly shows a shadow person behind the white pickup truck in the foreground. Clearly? Hmmmm sounds as though this person's mind is already made up.

And then:
QUOTE
At first I thought the slower shutter speed may have caught someone running across the street. But closer examination shows that the reflection on the subject from the red tail light of the pick up truck, shows no real time lapse (streaking) to support this thought. The pickup truck behind the shadow is moving at approximately 15 mph and the driver is still relatively in focus, so I don’t think this is a person out of focus due to the reduced shudder speed.

The explanation of why this is a "shadow person", which is supposed to leave no room for doubt.

This is why I doubt these photos. I would love to believe them, but I'm a cynic after seeing too many of these having rational possible explanations.
ROGER
I my self have never seen a shadow person, but with all the reports of they out there I don't negate their existence. This is still a good picture , proof or not. Hey , it's a mystery!
LadyHay
Oh I just also wanted to add that YES, I do also believe in their existence, having had many reports by people over the years.

Most interesting. 1/15th shutter speed is not THAT slow.. certainly not slow enough to produce this effect by a person running across the street. The cars ARE moving slowly: notice how the wheel trims are clearly defined. If they where moving quickly, then these would be a blur. In point of fact.... I'd almost be tempted to say they are stationary.

Curious...

maybe some, but i dont think all the cars are stopped.surely one of the cars would have been moving and or blurred.and 15mph is not that fast, the cars are far enough away to stop in time all are running,i say that because th lights are on.another intresting point, check out the white ford ranger.it apears to be speeding off.look how its slanted.if he was speeding off,and it was the cam it would have been blurred.the cars have 1 or 2 car links in between ,for 15mph thats about right.
and another thing, the shadow person seems to be crossing in traffic from a dark rv lot.the ford ranger is blocking the path, that leads me to belive when,he/it crossed the ranger was not there, which also makes me think the cars are moving.if the cars were stopped he ould have walked behind the ranger and in front of the tacoma,if his detination was behind the tacoma wouldnt he be angled insted of walking towards an alley? and if it was human, why no colors of clothes? most people walking around on the 4 of july at night dont wear all black, and the chest and head are very odd looking, not like a normal human, you see no hair or human features at all,yet you can clearly see the drivers in the other cars.if one so much as moved their hand you would see some blur.i again referance the ranger, look at the dodge pickup behind it,if they were stopped the dodge would be a few feet from the ranger, not 2 car links.please read every thing i said, dont just skim

i'm pretty sure mine has been helping me and i think she saved my life at least 2 times.i think shadow people are helpful,or maybe even gaurdian angels.although ive been trying to get mine on cam,she does not like it,the cam fails, even with new batts and sd card.the cam works fine everywhere else.its only when i try to catch her do i hav an issue ith my cam.

beach front speed limits are often reduced durring 4 of july to reduce accidents with pedestrians. (at least where i live anyway)

Sorry, feeling lazy so I added some comments in red to yours.

Again, all we have to go on is the word of the guy who submitted this to C2C. The biggest point I should mention is that the guy walking is obviously walking faster than the traffic. That's pretty obviously the bottom line here, to me.

I'll reiterate my earlier post:

He is telling us that this is definitely 100% no-doubt-about-it shadow person. So, of course, knowingly or not, he is going to skew the facts, even slightly to support his claim. I think his calculations are incorrect (see my 4 reasons) and I stand by them still. Its simple human nature, and unfortunately, doing what I do in my spare time, I come across it so often, its sad.

To me, its a camera error. Maybe I'm jaded. I don't feel many photos I have seen are authentic. I'm stubborn that way, yet I am truly a believer.
Clovis
It is hard to believe any photos are real even though some photos do give me that eerie feeling while others do not. This one did nothing for me though I am sure others might have different reactions. I simply find photos hard to believe because I was not there when they snapped it, when they developed it, etc. Anything could have happened in between and in the end we are just taking someone's word through a narrative account that all is on the up and up.

Typical shadow people also have no discernible features such as facial expression or details of the fabric they are wearing. They are just silhouettes so that even their clothes is just an outline even though it does occupy physical space it lacks details within the silhouette. They are never transparent. Every account thus far has been the same, even if it is the hat man or hooded figure variety, and anything else is considered a ghost and not a shadow person. Perhaps the veil is breaking further and details will start appearing more and more but up until now that has not been the case.

yeah when I was seeing one from the corner of my eye all the time in a place I lived, once I looked up and saw it right in front of me.I looked at it dead on and could not see through the shadow.Your description is perfect, and when I saw it in the room I was in,it was well lit as it was about 4 in the afternoon.

On a couple of occasions I have seen what I have believed to be "shadow people" in my home. Both times there were two of them. They appeared to be moving in perfect sync with each other and moved along the wall as though they were being projected onto it. Both beings were totally without features. They were human-shaped with perfectly rounded heads as though they were bald. In my situation the shadow beings were gauzy, somewhat see-through, as I could see the pattern of the wallpaper through them. It is possible I suppose that these were not actual shadow beings, but spirits attempting to manifest physically. I really don't know. All I do know is that they fit most descriptions of shadow beings, except perhaps for the transparency of them. Is it possible that there are varying types of "shadow people"? I hold no opinion on the photo in question here, but I did just want to comment that shadow beings may not necessarily always be opaque.

Moonie2012
Could it be exhaust from the truck? If the truck was running badly or backfired, it could create a thick enough cloud to be somewhat reflective, and insubstantial. The extended exposure would only compound it and make it look even stranger.
