Are there any conspiracy theories about this extremely secretive and reclusive family? I can hardly find any info about this family. There is nothing (except for Wikipedia and NNDB) on the web about them. Wikipedia states that the family is "fiercely protective of their privacy" and they refuse any interviews. I also read that Forrest Mars Sr was very eccentric and closed the company off from the public, and instructed employees not to speak to anyone. I think the Mars family still runs the company this way. This family is more secretive and strange than the du Ponts. Why can't I find any conspiracy theories about them? Does anyone know anything about them?

I've no idea if they're members of the Illuminati or whatever, but if they're not, i think they definitely deserve to be, don't you.

Yes, there is a Mars family, and they go to great lengths to keep everything about thier lives private. I don't understand why they are so secretive. What are they trying to hide?

I agree that it would make sense if they were members. They seem like new age Du Ponts. Could it be possible that there is new blood in the 13 families?

Yeah, but most well off families don't prohibit anyone but employees from entering the companies. Most well off famlies don't refuse every single interview that is offered to them. Most well off famlies aren't extremely reclusive and secretive. Don't you think it's just a bit odd that there are no photographs of the brothers? There are a few of the sister, but none of the brothers. Just stating those few facts about them I can see that something is up with this family.

Again, I really don't see it. Just because someone doesn't want photos of themselves plastered all over the net or to give interviews they're automatically involved in some kind of sinister plot? And of course no one but employees is allowed to enter company premises... do you reckon all the other big global conglomerates let anyone stroll in off the street?

So be cause they don't want to be attention seeking media whores they must be up to no good? Yeah, that sounds logical.

Ok, then I suppose I'll just come to the conclusion that the Mars family suffers from the Willy Wonka syndrome.

You want them to be like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton?. THOSE people aren't normal. There are many, many other rich families that aren't always in the public spotlight and many of them very little is known about. Why should we be concerned about this family over any other?

Indeed, frenat. Lets see, how about William Henry Gates III or Warren Buffett, the second and first richest person in the world. Do we really hear anything about them besides their financial transactions?! And like so many else. There are quite a lot very, very rich people that one never hear about...

No, I don't want them to be jokes, but it would be nice if the Mars brothers at least showed themselves. Yes, there are many other rich recluse families, but the Mars family seems to go over the top with thier privacy. Here's another example of strange behavior from them: When Forrest Sr died the company refused to admit it and they even denied that he worked there. What is up with that? These things I'm mentioning are just the icing on the cake. Thier behavior is just strange and creepy.

Buffet and Gates are not secretive at all. It's quite easy to find info about them. I understand that there are other rich recluse families, but like I said in my last reply to frenat, the Mars family seems to go over the top with thier privacy.

Sure, keep telling yourself that. While your at it, why don't you form some theories about the thousands (millions?) of other families that fit the same description.

I've never heard of any Mars family myself, so I don't know who they are or what kind of business they run etc. But I have to agree with those stating that just because someone want their private lives to remain private that doesn't really indicate anything else than that.

Personally I'd like to keep my own life private as well, and I do my best to do so too. And that's not because of all the sneaky things I'm involved with, really.

Oh the Mars family yeah i've heard about them.

Most people who are in this field of the industry are private and you don't hear much from them, often times it's because it's really not what the public eye wants to view.

You're going to believe whatever it is you want to believe, just like most people of your nature.
But i agree with a lot of the people here, just because they aren't all in everyone's face and throwing their money around does not make them strange, just because someone seems to be a little loopy or eccentric doesn't mean he is some kinda of marshin from mars, i'm surprised no ones saying "mars.. mars OMG his last name is MARS he must be behind the faces that people see on mars!" or whatever else insanely odd ideas people like to come up with.
I mean seriously, who cares what this guy and his family are doing, who cares what's going on behind the doors of his work, clearly the people WHO need to be in there get in there like the board of health and so on, just because the typical public like yourself can't leer into someone else's life does not mean something "fishy" is going on.
Not to be rude, but when I start to get preoccupied and obsessed with the owners of a candy company is when I've hit rock bottom and seriously need to look into getting some new life goals possibly even a new life.

Sorry it just gets really tiresome and old when people get caught up in really trivial stuff, when people get caught up in the little things like this is when they miss they miss the bigger things in life and if you stop looking for things that aren't there you'll begin to see the things that are.
