list the top ten greatest NES games



1. The Legend of Zelda - i picked legend of zelda because mainly for the story i mean LOZ has one of the best stories in gaming, and also for the game play and endless adventure

2. StarTropics - startropics is one of my favs with a large background story also i love "roming quest" games like this moving from one tropical island to another after a quest is pretty cool

3. Tetris - how can i not love tetris i mean theres no story but its an exallent game for someone who is bored alot : D

4. Super Mario Bros. 3 - easly better than 1 with more powerups and bosses it makes it more Challenging and exciting (bowser has kids WTF? )

5. Metal Storm - one of the most unfamus nes games ever, who doesnt love robot on robot action... and walking on walls, plus one of the best parts is after u finish the first quest theres a whole new quest to finish

6. Metal Gear - i really wish that i played this one i mean the star of the Metal Gear saga great story with a timeless character Solid Snake

7. Castlevania - never played it but a friend of mine has and i hear that it is a great game

8. Metroid - the start of the metroid games i love metroid for the story and game play, a space bounty hunter that is sent to fight aliens, plus samas is a girl OMG! o.o that blew me away when i found out one of the biggest twists in gameing

9. Kid Icarus - another game that i really liked another classic story i mean your a angel that is a warrior of a goddess that u have to save from medusa

10. Little Nemo: The Dream Master - i havnt played this game yet but i so want to! a little kid batteling monster, riding creatures, and traveling in a dreamland, just saying that makes u wanna play

This is a great thread.
It's gonna be hard remembering my faves(So many as a kid) off the top of my head but I'll try:-

1) Probotector (AKA Contra)
Used to just love this game. The cheat was the only way we culd finish it.

2) Blades of Steel
Coolest ice hockey game ever

3) Kidicarus
Great platformer, hard as f...

4) Faxanadu
Old skool, again, real tough game (i was about 6 though)

5) Super Mario Bros
No explanation req

6) Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
First NES game I owned - classic

7) Bubble Bobble
fun

8) Mario Bros. 2
Insane digging fun, Toad as playable too

9) WWF Wrestlemania
I think it was called Mania - it sucks now - but then it ruled

10) Mario Bros.3
Did this come out on NES or was it just SNES?

i think i agree with thunderbolt, legend of zelda is derfinatly up there, as for wich one i would have to say Ocarina of Time (best game eva invented) way OP

NO DRAGON WARRIOR??? NO DRAGON WARRIOR??? I remember back in the day, being one of the first to ever get a N.E.S at a very young age. Dragon Warrior was free with the gaming system at the time and everyone was all about it. It's resemblance to D&D compelled me. NO DRAGON WARRIOR??? The rest of the list is decent besides Little Nemo. ME DRAGON WARRIOR, ME DESTROY NEMO's HIT POINTS WITH MY PINKIE FINGER!!!! angry.gif

Mario Bros.3 came out on the NES too

1. Legend of Zelda: Best story ever told on NES


2. MEGAMAN!: who could forget megaman??? awesome game loved the music.

3. Bubble Bobble : spent hours playing this game with my little brother got to lvl 99 and died sad.gif


4. Battle Toads: This game was just a tough game and battle toads were cool


5: Jackal : Another 2 player game me and my brother played were you drove a jeep to rescue POWs great game.


6: Ninja Gaiden: never could beat the game but i had fun trying


7: Mario 3: i honestly beat this game when i was no more than 3 years old.


8: Friday the 13th: the game was crazy hard but jason was the thing back then.


9: Ninja Turtles 2: first one was tough with good music, i picked this one because of the 2 player.

10: Duck Hunt/Mario Bros. "same cart"" Epic classic that everyone must complete atleast once.

1. Final Fantasy - Great game and lead up to an even better one FFVII
2. Ultima: Quest of the Avatar - Challenging game
3. Ninja Gaiden - Just plain hard but real good
4. The Legend of Zelda - A classic a must play.
5. Metroid - Just another classis nothing really special
6. Contra - Was hard to me but good game
7. Castlevania - A great game
8. Dragon Warrior III - Nice rpg
9. Duck Hunt - Just fun
10. Dragon Warrior IV - Another classic

The Zelda series is pretty much considered to be in the top 3 of any console ever, usually considered number 1 even when compared to all the sega/sony/xbox games.

I think Metroid should be higher on the list.
