On Thanksgiving 2003 we found a mummy on our property. I sent it to a friend who owns a museum in MO to be examined. I found out it is an adult cat.....but here's the weird thing.....it's only 5 1/2 inches long. I'm still waiting on more information....like the age of this mummy. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we live fairly close to Area 51. Below is some information I've received so far. Here's a link to some pictures of this little guy.

"I emailed a Mammalogist from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and attached some photos of the Mystery Mummy. He said he needed a photo with a ruler to show scale, so I emailed him one of the photos the person in Nevada who found the Mystery Mummy. The scientist came back with an opinion, which is very interesting. He said it appears the Mystery Mummy is a member of the cat family, and that it appears to be an adult because of the mature teeth in the creature. Now, if it is an adult species of cat and only 5-6 inches long, what is it? I remember my history of prehistoric times and how mammals developed as tiny creatures alongside the dinosaurs. When the dinos died out, then mammals grew larger and larger. Think of a prominent cat--the sabertooth tiger! That was large and mean! Maybe our Mystery Mummy is a missing link, or early mammal that should have been extinct millions of years ago. We are going to visit a Cryptobiologist at Drury University next month. Stay tuned for the next installment in the search for the truth about the Mystery Mummy." Dr. Robert Gibbons

Second letter

"We took the "Mystery Mummy" to Drury University in Springfield, where it was examined by a Cryptobiologist and an Anatomist in the Biology department. The little creature was literally "put under a microscope" and the scientists used "keys" of known animals to help identify it, in addition to bringing out skulls and a mummified cat that was trapped in the chapel wall for a hundred years! Larry took video and digital photos of the tests and will post still photos here later.

The scientists said it appears to be an adult cat by its teeth, but held it up beside the mummy of an adult cat that was trapped in the chapel wall and our little fellow is about the size of the other cat's HEAD! So we still have a mystery on our hands!" Dr. Robert H. Gibbons

Maybe its a long vanished species of tiny cat, after all you get amazingly small dogs I've seen one it wouldn't even be that bigger then my shoe but it was real and it was a full grown one (if i find out its name I'll tell you). Did they say what kind of mummy it was ( natutally mummified or done by a person)
dantheman2435
looks kinda like a mole or something
PsychicPenguin
It must be el chupacabra
dantheman2435

Well I found it out here in the middle of no where so I'm assuming it was naturally
mummified Loque. rolleyes.gif Unless it was dropped from some U.F.O. grin2.gif
It's not fragile sarkypi. More like a stiff leather. I'm waiting to see if the scientists are doing a carbon 14 dating to determine its age.

Nope I know it wasn't a yorkie, LisaMHD I used to live next door to someone who owned about 10 of those noisy buggers.

It think it was some sort of sub breed of a Chihuahua
it didn't have the huge eyes but it was about the same size.

Also moving on shouldn't there still be traces of DNA somewhere in the mummy as so you can get atleast a partial similarity with a species but I know you won't get a full identification from the DNA samples because of the lack of DNA particles that haven't degraded too much.
