Anyone live in the area of Tipton/Howard County? I was born and raised right outside Kokomo and received a call last night from a friend that is still around there. Apparently at some point in the early evening yesterday a huge explosion shook the two counties, immediately after the explosion HUNDREDS of people reported seeing numerous lights in the sky (that lit up in a sequence.) I spoke to my friend for about an hour and the whole time his police scanner was going nuts, initial reports had it as a plane crash although later that was found to be untrue.

Here are some quotes from people who witnessed it.

QUOTE
Tonight My mom and I saw the same or a very similar set of lights. We were driving to our house when I saw a light that was slowly pulsating. Eventually it disappeared. Not long later I saw the light again but this time instead of pulsating it multiplied to five lights that were aligned to each other. Not long later another set of lights appeared not far from the first set of lights. Together they looked like a upside down V. Not long later both sets of lights disappeared.

QUOTE
I too saw the bright white lights in the western sky right after the loud boom that shook my whole house. I live in the Northeast part of Kokomo close to the new Chrysler plant. I saw 4 t0 5 white lights then it looked like white fireworks going off from north to south direction. This happened 3 times, then it looked like it moved and headed in a western direction disappearing out of sight.

QUOTE
I live in Kokomo, Indiana and saw the exact same thing. It wasn't there for long. I went outside because we heard what sounded like an explosion. Just like you, there was no noise while the object was there.

QUOTE
Me and my whole family were watching tv in the living room and heard a "sonic boom" like sound, that shook the whole house. We ran outside to see what the sound was, only to see that our whole neighborhood also came outside to see what was going on. After we were outside, we saw 5-8 bright, white lights lined horizontally and flashed one-by-one in order from right to left, then left to right, then back again.

After it lingered in the air for about a minute, it just disappeared without a trace, a signal, or any smoke, or fire to show ah path of direction.

Anyone else experience this?

Hmmm...meteorites don't "flash" horizontally. I've seen plenty of meteorites, never recall any of them "booming" either.

Very, very interesting....

Apparently an almost identical incident happened in Logansport (about 35 miles away) two nights before. Has me wondering about Grissom Air Force base and possible testing out there. I've spoke to three people thus far from around the area, all three live about 20 miles apart from each other in separate directions and all of them felt it, one witnessed the lights.

I'm in the northern part of Hamilton County, right on the edge edge of Tipton County, but all seemed quiet here. My son was outside at the time, but saw/heard nothing here in our area.

There are conflicting reports still, one has it that F-16's were doing training missions over the area. Another has it as meteors.

How are all these UFO's crashing?

Seriously there are more reported UFO crashes per year than the amount of commercial plane crashes in a decade, and even more than downed fighter planes since the first Gulf War.

If these supposedly alien craft are so advanced, I think we can sleep easy at night cos they must have really crap pilots.

Meteors can both flash horizontally and make booming sounds -- it's fairly common. (By the way, a "meteor" is still flying through the air, while a "meteorite" is a space rock that has landed on the earth.)

But, anyway, a few years ago here in Minnesota, a large meteor made a "whuppa-whuppa-whuppa" sound like a helicopter -- that's because it was oblong in shape and was spinning end over end as it came down very fast.

I also once saw a large meteor break up in mid flight, and I heard a very distinct cracking noise.

I saw a meteor enter a cumulus cloud and explode once. It lit it up like lightning and sounded like thunder. It was pretty amazing.

I'm a new member here, so I apologize for any interruption of the excitement. I just recently stumbled upon this site looking for an explanation for my having to get out of bed last night to reassure my wife that the world wasn't about to end.

I lived within 3 miles of Grissom Air Force (now Air Reserve) Base for over 20 years, ending about 3 years ago when I relocated to ... ultimately Kokomo, IN last year. Sonic 'BOOMS' were frequent in my area (maybe 2 or so a week when the flight patterns were directly over my house) before the base went to reserve several years ago. I have seen the *flares* and subsequent flight patterns many (MANY) times over the past 2 decades; nothing unusual. We dealt with it. The windows weren't cracked. Nobody was abducted.

I understand that adrenaline works in mysterious ways, but probabilities are that from what I've read of several postings and news reports, the signs all point to a rookie (or P/O'd) pilot 'amping' the throttle at the wrong time... just a coincidence. It's happened before. No alarm. The light patterns; the flickering; horizontal; north, south, east... sometimes west.. nothing new. Usually happened during late night/early morning. ... just ... it's been a while since we've heard the "BOOM"

I saw part of what was happening I think, but I'm not sure. I do live in the area where this supposedly happened. I went outside to take out the trash and was looking up at the sky. I saw what looked like someone had shot a firework across the sky, but it was too large for that. I would say it was the size of a large airplane but it was hard to judge because it was out of my view quicky. It was a fireball of white light as it streaked across the sky it spit into 3/4 smaller parts as it headed lower and out of my view.

I assumed it was a meteorite, and that scared me a little because it was big enough to do some damage if it hit a house or whatever.

Anyone in this same area of the UFO crash, meteorites, or whatever it was, feel the earthquake this morning, too?

I missed it !
where was the coverage of this I did not hear anything about this over the local media mad.gif

QUOTE
Mainland witnesses said they saw " a fireball coming out of the sky and hit the Island on a 45 degree angle" some describe it as " a silvery streak or shaft of bright light". The "Boom" was heard 100 miles away. A barrage of bizarre electrical phenomenon immediately ensued. Most of the damage was on the Bickford's property.

I thought maybe a crash or a landing.
Here is a reported crash that you most likely will not hear about.
Location, I think New Mexico.

Saucer crashed into a house. All those on board were injured and carried off in stretchers.
Three were the size of little people as from the movie Wizard of OZ.

The CIA or UFO authority were on the slot in 15 minuets.
Apparently the saucers carry actors to play the alien part if they do not crash to badly.

My son reported that he saw an extremely brillant green light going from west to east over Tipton County last night. He said it was far faster than any aircraft he has ever seen. He was on his cell in his truck heading north in northern Hamilton County when the sighting occurred. The person whom he was talking with also saw the same phenomena. He was quite unnerved by the entire sighting, indicating he has never seen anything of that nature before.
