Tonight I saw D.L. Hughley on stage at my local theater. I laughed out loud the entire time. I don't mean that figuratively, I mean literally. He was only on stage (as well as in the audience) for about an hour, but it was the funniest hour of my day. He's one of the Kings of Comedy and knows how to make someone laugh.

Of course, he's not my favourite. There's several comedians that come into mind that I find legendary, but Hughley is still a funny guy.

I wish I could remember in detail every joke that made me hiccup from laughing so loud, but here's one of the later ones I recall:

Hughley's late act sometimes involves making fun of various audience members, as he goes through entire rows and sections asking them about theirselves. Earlier in the show he remarked how ADD in his childhood years was just refered to as a case of r******ation (only he said it in much more vulgar yet funny terms, of course). So while questioning the entire front row, and seeing as how most of the people up-front mumbled and said "uhhhh..." and "I don't know" a lot, Hughly responded:

"You guys all came in on the bus didn't you? You're here for a field-trip, aren't you?"

I broke out in hysterical laughter. I wish I had a notebook to jot down all of his jokes.

So, any above-average or great stand-up comics you've seen perform lately or ever? Please, limit it to actual stand-up comics perfoming actual stand-up comedy. I imagine I'll see plenty of Chappelle fans. I hope to see some Pryor fans, too.

David Cross is the only comedian I'd pay to see these days

I don't know why, but just looking at Cross's face makes me angry.

I love Russell Brand, he makes my sides ache laughing sometimes. I saw him live about 2 years ago and I'd recommend it for sure.

Lewis Black is who I'm hooked on right now. My favorite would have to be George Carlin! He open so many doors for comedians and he's funny wink2.gif
Also Richard pryor is a fav of mine.
Paranoid Android
Richard Pryor would have to be up there simply because he was one of the pioneers. He was most definitely one of the best, and so many people have taken elements of his routine and put them in their own shows. Billy Connolly would also be among my favourites, but at the moment, I'd have to say I am a big fan of Bill Bailey's mix of stand-up comedy and music. Absolutely awesome thumbsup.gif
The Other Guy
Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle 4 me.
