Well I don't see a string and even if there was, a string couldn't be used to cause all that. Either it's real or a hoaxster has far to much time on his hands lol. Freaky.
Really? How about if they drilled a hole in the top of the door, and pulled it down and tied it to the assembly? Then you wouldn't see it at all - and back to a one handed trick, rattle the knob and swing the door around while tugging on the string.
It isn't as difficult to pull off as some of you people are making it out to be. I think he's got fishing line tied around the rear knob, and it's slung over the top. It's so thin as to not be picked up by the crappy resolution camera.
If I had a door like that in my house, I'd show you just how easy it is.
EDIT: Near the end of the video when they pan up to show the top of the door, you can see what appears to be a hole going through the door about halfway between the knob and the top of the door. I'm betting this is where the string runs into the door and down to the knob assembly, just out of camera range. Watch how the door moves corresponding to the rattling knob - the door swings very slowly while the knob is rattling, like it's being held taught. A big swing of the arm, and the door flies all the way open, but the rattling STOPS, because he can't pull the string tight in that position without pulling the door taught again.
It's a string trick, and nothing but. I'd bet any amount of money on it. Interesting trick, but far from the perfect con.
