You can find walkthroughs of any Martial-Art via the web. My advice is to find some stuff on Jeet Kun Doe(Bruce Lee's created style) I dont know how to spell it but that is the pronunciation. Its also known as the "intercepting fist" style.

Just goto a MMA gym near you. Learn some Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, Wrestling, Catch Wrestling etc. all rolled into one. Those gyms will often let you come to a few classes free of charge to see if you like it. If you don't like getting punched in the face alot just stick to watching it on tv.

Off topic, but I am about to start taking Muay Thai. In the past I had taken karate(waste of time), and akido(loved it). Decided to go with something new.

Imagine toughening up your fists, elbows, knees, and shins on solid wood. Repeatedly...

If you're looking for self-defense purposes, pick up the Tao of Jeet Kun Do by Bruce Lee. He's got a great "win or die" fighting philosophy.
If you're looking at becoming a competitor, whether MMA, TK, or anything else, find a gym devoted to that. You need to recognize that most of the individual martial arts are specific sports, meant to be effective within certain rules. Even those that started as a self-defense methodology eventually get crippled once they become a sport and rules are introduced.
Don't get me wrong, learning to do a jumping butterfly kick is very impressive and could take somebody's head off if he were stupid enough to still be standing where he was when you started the move. On the other hand, learning to hit home runs would make the damage you do with a baseball bat to someone's head more devastating, too.

mcmap (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) is pretty cool too, but you'll have to join the marines to learn that I guess?
