A look at the creationist museum which promotes the view that Genesis as oppose to Darwin explains the origins of life.

Never let the science and the facts get in the way of your archaic beliefs...

What a sorry situation. "I believe it because it's written here in the Bible", it's tragic that words in an ancient book can mean more to somebody than the demonstrable truth.

I agree, science and religeon are an extremely volatile mixture, and should probably be kept apart whenever possible. thumbsup.gif

Ha! I'm in Kentucky. Despite my lack of interest in contributing money via admission price I'm still tempted to visit this place. Should be amusing.

I have said it once and I will keep saying it . What a waste of $20 million. Why not help some poor people in america or in another poor country. They are christians are'nt they?

In this day and age no amount of money can go to waste like this. What do christians and church groups need
with a museum.

The way they reason I would like to start my own science where every theory I have is the right one. Then I can
receive my own version of the nobel prize for my prestiges work. grin2.gif

Some people are blind to the facts put in front of them.. The Catholic Church is the biggest money making scam of all time and they still can't put the cash to good use.. Pathetic..

I know exactly what your saying, the bible has been way to roughly translated and is way to loosly interpreted to be a end all for any education of human history.

Although I do recomend reading it and I am Christian, I just don't think it should be seen a science book.

Look people, this is America. If someone raises money or has the money to build a museum that reflects any particular religion's beliefs then so be it. Why are you all up in arms about this? First of all the snide and silly remarks of the reporter are unfair. Say the creationists are wrong and silly all you want but if you don't want to go visit the museum then don't! There are millions of people that can find hundreds of ways that the secular science community wastes millions of dollars in their efforts. That's the beauty of America.
Bender.
That isn't a museum. A museum's purpose is to educate the general public on what happened in the past. The things inside that building do not do this.

Someone should kidnap those cool robot dinosours and take them to a real science museum!

I think that it is useless to speculate about the origin of the earth. People can't agree on who killed John F. Kennedy,
and that only happened less that fifty years ago.

How are you going to know for certain what happened when the earth was formed thousands (for evangelicals) or billions (for scientists) years ago?

I have been to the museum,I highly recommend any one believer or not to see it.There is many ways to argue both sides of the isle as far as creation and evolution.I am personally a believer in creationism. If glaciers carved out the mountains and valleys on earth than explain the moon and other planets that have no evidence of water ever. And yet the moon is covered with craters and there appears to be mountains and valleys on other planets.

That is an excellent point,This is america and we throw money away on many worthless programs and projects.besides its our country and with it we shall do as we please.Plus the last time I checked the Queen was a Christian, along with the rest of the Royal family. And as for you evolutionists you better hope us Christians are wrong. for us worse case is we suffer the same fate as you.But not the same for you if we are right.

But what if say your wrong but another religion or sub sect of christianity is right the cinsequences could be just as bad for you as for an atheist. I have no problem with what diffferent faiths people have or there reasons for having them. I personallly though dont feel that a particular faith should be followed because your hedging your bets. Plus not all Christians believe those of different beliefs are off to hell many believe its more about wether they are a good person regardless of faith.

Oh and i just wanted to test in i am an 'evolutionist.' I consider that evolution is a sound scientific theory and as such has much evidence. I think the same of many other scientific disciplines but they dont come with a title. I am a little curious at the title that has been issued as it seems to serve ittle purpose than to create a divide between people. Are those who are christan but also understand and stand by the theory of evolution evolutionists or do we now need another title. Evolutionist christians, Creationism Christians, YE Christians. It seems so many divides. DO we also now need names for thsoe who adhere to other scientific principles. Are there gravityists, big bangists?

False hope or not without religion in this world it would be an awful place to live.no rules anything goes because there are no consequences in life or after. You can see it how you want but there is only our beliefs and rules from the ible that seperate us from total anarchy.

its a Flintstones museum
sarcastic skeptic
Things like this make me embarrassed to be an American. If the universe were 6,000 years old, then the night sky would be black because 95% of the stars and galaxies we see are farther than 6,000 light years away and their light would not have reached us yet. We have measured the speed of light we know it as fact and use it in modern technology. So many simple ways of disproving this nonsense.
There are bristlecone pine trees older than their earth.
What's worse than a young earth is the literal belief in Noah's ark! In order to house 2 of every living creature today and all those we have fossil evidence for (and only those that lived on land or flew) and enough food to feed them for 40 days would require a boat the size of Japan and would take a team of 10,000 people 100 years to build by hand. It would take an even larger team an even longer time to collect 2 of each. The story of Noah's ark also forgets the most important organisms living on the planet, PLANTS! They would all die in a drowned earth.

For the uneducated person that wanted an explanation about craters on the moon? They are caused by impacts, not water. Running water does not cause craters. Go to the library and read up on geology and astronomy.

Maybe you should change your name to sarcastic einstien. You argue that christian beliefs are not possible because it can't be proven by the group of athiest scientists that you follow. And I am suprised that you are capable of being embarrassed.I never said that I believe the Earth was 6000 years old.I am a Christian and have doubts about that.I BELIEVE BECAUSE I AM SAVED AND I FEEL IT,THAT IS HOW I KNOW.I also believe that GOD created the earth ,man, the universe no matter how old they are.I live in a area that floods every year and the plants always grow back, always have, and always will. And as for the ark you watch the discovery channel too much.maybe they should have used americans to build the ark instead of Japanese.we could have built it in time.Non believers #!%*#!$!!!!!What do say there are pine trees older than the earth the is just crazy, why would you believe that?there is your sarcasm dude!

That is complete and utter nonsense. Social structure does not come from religion it pre-dates it and it is an instinctual survival strategy for a social animal like humans.

Actually many Christian scientists have also proven the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old and helped to prove evolution etc.

I don't doubt that the earth is millions even billions of years old.And that animals have evolved and became extinct in many cases and even the dicovery of new species. But it is just to perfect for a big bang to have started it all and if we evolved from monkeys then why is there still monkeys? There is just too much that science can't explain or disprove.there must be something greater than just man.many has said a day to God is like a millon years and if that is so then there you have it GOD the one I know, knows no time.Everlasting, eternal almighty!

Such misinformation.

Water erosion has caused some "valleys" (like the Grand Canyon), but plate tectonics caused the mountains to form.

Meteorites crashing into the moon caused craters, and for the mountains and valleys both on the moon and other planets, they formed when those bodies were cooling billions of years ago.

That information should be available in science books aimed at children as young as 9, so there's no reason adults shouldn't know it.

theory all theory you have no proof, niether do I .oh you must have faith that the big bang is true, and that evolution is true.If only the monkeys/our ancestors lol ,kept better records of our evolution. Then we would know for sure, and we could then figure out how that man survived in the midwest and the ice age being that there is no proof of banana trees in these non tropical areas. You know the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I really like banana pudding and banana shakes. However I am not a good climber, was there banana trees in europe?the middle east?russia?china?we may never know.lol

We DIDNT evolve from monkeys, that is just typical creationist mythology. It is ignorance of the highest order to suggest such a thing.
So... 1 God day = 1,000,000 human years? so... the entire evolution of the planet ocurred in just 6,000,000 years (not forgetting that God was Off-the-job on the 7th day). Is that scriptural?? No, I didnt think so.

Tell me, WHY must there be something greater than humans - I dont doubt that there are more intellectually evolved species out there somewhere, but by my reckoning YOUR God just doesnt cut muster in the Brains department.

Oh, I get it now. Since monkeys eat bananas, and we evolved from monkeys (you seem to be saying), then we ate bananas.

Wrong. First, we didn't evolve from monkeys. Monkeys and humans split from a common ancestor. Second, while we do eat bananas (and have for a very long time), it doesn't follow that we've always eaten nothing but bananas, a la the stereotypical monkey. So bananas didn't have to grow in the Middle East and Europe for man to have lived there.
