The Other Guy
Not sure if this has been done b4 but, what is your saddest movie scene(s)?

Mine would have to be in Castaway, where Wilson is lost out to sea. For some reason it striked me as very powerful even though it was 'just a ball'. grin2.gif

Care to share?

I gotta agree - that's one hell of a tearjerker.

what's that one with the kid that sees dead people, he was in another movie where he gets killed for sticking up for someone...

there's been a few movies that moved me like that really.... but the most tears shed over fiction were when Flint died in Dragonlance. I couldn't stop bawling heh
Legatus Legionis
[ Pursuit of Happiness ] When Chris Gardner ( Will smith ) got kicked out of his home and was forced to sleep on the public toilet on the station.

LEVARTOV: We've written a letter trying to explain things. In case you're captured. Every worker has signed it.

SCHINDLER: Thank you.

Stern steps forward and places a ring in Schindler's hand. It's a gold band, like a wedding ring. Schindler notices an inscription inside it.

STERN: It's Hebrew. It says, 'Whoever saves one life saves the world.'

Schindler slips the ring onto a finger, admires it a moment, nods his thanks, then seems to withdraw.

SCHINDLER: (to himself) I could've got more out...

SCHINDLER: (to himself) I could've got more... if I'd just... I don't know, if I'd just... I could've got more...

STERN: Oskar, there are twelve hundred people who are alive because of you. Look at them.

SCHINDLER: If I'd made more money... I threw away so much money, you have no idea. If I'd just...

STERN: There will be generations because of what you did.

SCHINDLER: I didn't do enough.

STERN: You did so much.

SCHINDLER: This car. Goeth would've bought this car. Why did I keep the car? Ten people, right there, ten more I… could've got. (looking around) This pin --

He rips the swastika, from his lapel and holds it out to Stern.

SCHINDLER: Two people. This is gold. Two more people. He would've given me two for it. At least one. He would've given me one. One more. One more person. A person, Stern. For this. One more. I could've gotten one more person I didn't.

He completely breaks down, weeping convulsively.

SCHINDLER: They killed so many people...(Stern, weeping too, embraces him) They killed so many people...

From above, from a watchtower, Stern can be seen down below, trying to comfort Schindler. Eventually, they separate, and Schindler and Emilie climb into the Mercedes. It slowly pulls out through the gates of the camp. And drives away.

^ Forgot about that one... definitely a very touching movie
The Skeptic Eric Raven
My Life- starring Michael Keaton.

The ending of The Notebook for me as well.

Oh god. crying.gif
Paranoid Android
I'm going to have to see The Notebook, going by all the replies.

For me, one of the best tear-jerker scenes was at the end of Braveheart when Wallace is publicly tortured to get a confession out of him, and instead of yielding he cries out "FREEDOM".

No doubt about it, the meltdown at the end of "Requiem for a dream."

The Patriot when Heath Ledger finds his new wife and the entire town was burnt to death in the church after being tricked. I didn't necessarily get teary eyed, but I am sure someone did.

Oh yes, that ending. While I didn't cry (I have yet to cry while watching a movie...they just don't force that reaction from me), that ending is pretty intense and jarring.

I suggested my mother watch it, as she was looking for a good film. Now when I make a suggestion I have to rate the film on an intensity scale for her so she knows what she is getting herself into grin2.gif

Yeah, Glory got to me. Excellent film.

Most recent film that truly affected me was Into the Wild...though I am an idealistic liberal from California, so go figure happy.gif

EDIT: I just spotted Melly's:

That Gladiator scene is pretty poignant. The image of him gliding over the ground has stayed with me for years.

Ridley Scott is the man...he has to be, as he also directed Alien and Blade Runner.

I've never cried from a movie, but my eyes have gotten slightly watery during;

The execution of John Coffee in the movie The Green Mile.

The ending to Leon, The Professional otherwise known as Leon or just The Professional

That's all I can remember of actually coming close to shedding tears, but I'm somewhat intoxicated right now so maybe I'll remember more later.

Some other notable mentions of emotional moments that didn't cause watery eyes but should be remembered anyway;

The 'Remeber Us' portion of 300.

The ending to Forrest Gump.

When Vasquez dies in Aliens. /salute

Some movie moments that should've invoked tears when instead invoked laughter because I'm a bad person;

The ending to The Mist. I have a tendency to laugh at irony, no matter how sharp and cruel it may be.

I'll probably remember more later, but I'll have to sober up first.

Free Willy....

I always found that movie to be funny because the ending was given away by the movie poster. I mean, it's not like you didn't know it was going to end like that about half-an-hour into the movie.

While all this noise is going on, Mr. White tries to stand
but FALLS DOWN. He somehow makes it to where Mr. Orange
lies.

He lifts Mr. Orange's head, cradling it in his lap and
stroking his brow.

MR. WHITE
(with much effort)
Sorry, kid. Looks like we're
gonna do a little time.

Mr. Orange looks up at him and, with even more of an
effort:

MR. ORANGE
I'm a cop. ohmy.gif

Mr. White doesn't say anything, he keeps stroking Orange's
brow.

MR. ORANGE
I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

Mr. White lifts his .45 and places the barrel between Mr.
Orange's eyes.

The CAMERA MOVES into an EXTREME C.U. of Mr White.

The SOUNDS of outside STORM inside. We don't see
anything, but we HEAR a bunch of shotguns COCKING.

POLICE FORCE (OS)
Freeze, m*********! Drop yo ur
****** gun!

Mr White looks up at them, smiles, PULLS the trigger.

BANG

We hear a BURST of SHOTGUN FIRE.

Mr. White is BLOWN out of frame, leaving it empty.

Reservoir Dogs... Such a delicate, sensitive movie...

ValkyrieVoice
The ending scene in Braveheart where they're disembowling, torturing and murdering him. When he sees his wife walking through the crowd of onlookers- when he's finally free.
667-Neighbor of the Beast
Dang, I almost didn't post here because I though someone would have posted the only 2 movies that have ever made me cry. And this coming from a 33 year old ex-bouncer.

Armagedon- When Bruce Willis' character is saying goodbye to his daughter before setting off the nuke.

The Sixth Sense-When the little boy is finally telling his mom about his ability in the car, and he tells her what her mother told him about the dance recital.

I'm not a cryer, but both of these scenes tore me up.
bogcreeper
I prefer happy tear jerkers like "Rudy". Old yeller and where the red fern grows ... I .. um ... crying.gif

"Champ, wake up!"

Mufasa's death in the Lion King...

Last part of My Dog Skip...

Jessie's Song from Toy Story 2.

I cried all through the movie The Passion of the Christ. Actually everyone in the theater cried.

There's others, but I can't remember them right now...lol.

"Armageddon" during the nuclear bomb scene. Also, the Passion of the Christ. Who couldn't be crying to that one?
