"MYSTERY LIGHTS OVER ARIZONA, FLORIDA; RESIDENTS SPOOKED"

Did you see them?

Several people reported seeing four lights forming various formations above the Valley Monday night.

Tony Toporek was talking with his neighbors in north Phoenix when the lights appeared at about 8 p.m.

He grabbed his video camera and started taping.

Witnesses reported that the lights formed a vertical line, then formed a diamond-shape, followed by a u-shape.

It would be nice to see the actual video, perhaps they will post it to youtube, seeing it on a tv monitor didnt do it any justice. By the looks of the sky, if its a craft it would be esy to see the shape of it as a shadow... or perhaps its just 4 separate lights.

The post above me posted at the same time... now that I see the vid (I thought on the monitor that you could see treeline in the report) its too dark to make anything out, even on my 1:3000 contrast monitor.
The news video showed a shadow that looked like treeline, looks like it was just the camera crew's shadow...

interesting tho!

April 22, 2008 - More Unidentified Lights Over Phoenix.

“ABC15 contacted several agencies, including the FAA, Sky Harbor,
Luke AFB, and the Phoenix Police Department. No one could explain
what the lights are.”
- ABC15-TV, Phoenix.

Monday, April 21, 2008, around 8 PM above the Phoenix Valley, several people reported
seeing four lights moving into different formations. Tony Toporek was outside, saw the moving
lights, got his video camera and taped, including the two video frames above.
Video frames © 2008 by Tony Toporek.

As described more than once in the Stephenville and Selden, Texas, lights in January to February 2008 (see Earthfiles), the four lights reportedly went into a vertical straight line. From the line the lights formed a diamond and an arc. ABC15 KNXV-TV in Phoenix also reports that eyewitnesses said “the lights moved from side-to-side and upward before disappearing one-by-one. Toporek said the last light vanished and then briefly reappeared before disappearing again. ABC15 contacted several agencies, including the FAA, Sky Harbor, Luke AFB, and the Phoenix Police Department. No one could explain what the lights are.”

Here's the Florida sighting-with video:

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Strange orbs of light spotted flying in the night sky over St. Augustine are the second reported sighting of mystery lights in the area in recent weeks.

The Puckett family said they spotted the lights in the sky over the weekend. Witness Brandon Puckett, 12, said the lights were apparently flying toward each other.

"I looked up and it was like these two fiery balls like flying across the sky, sort of in formation," Brandon Puckett said. "They were like flying toward each other."

Some skeptics said the lights could be from sky lanterns released during a nearby wedding.

Others are not convinced.

Another sighting of unexplained lights happened in St. Augustine Beach in the early-morning hours of April 14, reported WTLV-TV in Jacksonville.

People around the world claimed to have seen the same kind of lights in the sky and are posting some of the images on YouTube.

As I said in the other post about the lights, I live in N.W. Phoenix and I missed the lights both times. I work with someone who lives near Luke Air Force Base, and he said it was much more
active than usual.

Don't know what that means but I would've liked to have seen them.

Everything, actually. Soulfire posted pics for comparison. They presented a reasonable and possible explanation for what the videos show......

First, if these are sky lanterns we have no idea how they were constructed or for how long they would burn.

Second, how do we know what altitude these lights are floating at? We have unknown points of light, which are an unknown size and against a solid dark background with no points of reference. Exactly how could we determine what altitude these were floating at? To me this is as much of an unknown as anything.....

what in the hell are you talking about??? exactly what does this NOT have to do with this topic. did you even read it??? did you watch the video that i provided??? come on cuz, pay attention here please.

you need to do a little research. they can reach heights of over 5000 ft., they can burn for up to 30 minutes & it's up to mother nature (wind) as to their speed & distance traveled. they are also commonly tied together with fishing line or something like that so they stay grouped together (in a formation). unless you know how high the objects that were filmed were (which you DO NOT) then how can you make the statement you just did??? if you watch closely, you can see that the lights are flickering - it's the fire inside the lantern. also, they burn-out one at a time. just like the witness said. they gradually got dimmer & eventually disappeared one by one.

i totally believe in UFO's/ET. i just don't believe this was them. i would love nothing more than for that to be a mothership or fleet of UFO's flying over arizona, unfortunately, it's not. just because i'm a believer doesn't mean i have to believe EVERYTHING. i have seen some VERY convincing UFO footage - this aint it. i recommend again for everyone to watch this video. watch it from start to finish (invest a few minutes of your life). then compare what you see to these sightings & make a rational decision. these are sky lanterns.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP7VlW95cKY&hl=en

over at another site that i frequent, there has been a dude there for months "predicting" a UFO flyover. he even "predicted" the date. guess what, it was the night of the new pheonix lights sighting. coincidence??? i think not. i believe that him & some of his buddies planned this & released the sky lanterns to manufacture this sighting to make his "prediction" come true. seems to have worked pretty well, huh?

if you want to see some good footage of some real (in my opinion) sightings, check out the recent texas & indiana sightings. both of those cases produced some truely unique & unexplainable phenomena.

by the way, i appreciate your input kev thumbsup.gif

well, i just ran across another possibility:

hey mod - could you please merge the other thread about this same sighting with this one. i believe sweetpumper started this one first.

Marfa lights of Texas, Brownsville lights of North Carolina, similar sightings from all corners of the globe doing the same similar things throughout history. Mankind is so far from understanding all that is to know about our earth, that anything "alien" to them must be from another planet. I would love to see some "ET's" but looking at documented history and current history shows me that these "lights" that have been seen throughout history and in every culture are UFO's due to being unidentifyed, but not the "aliens" that some people are looking for.

From UnknownCountry.com:

Sky Lanterns, Helium Balloons, Swamp Gas Around the World
23-Apr-2008

Residents of Phoenix, Florida and Germany all reported unusual lights in the sky on Monday night. The lights above Phoenix formed a U, then a square, then other formations before disappearing. Both the Air Force and the FAA denied that they were aircraft. A Phoenix resident, however, claimed that one of his neighbors had launched flares on helium balloons, which accounted for the sightings. However, the neighbor who had allegedly launched the balloons could not be identified.

In St. Augustine Florida, local media explained that the lights seen there were made by candle lanterns, which they claimed can rise as high as five thousand feet. No mention was made of how visible a single candlepower lantern might be at an altitude of a mile. However, if you light a birthday candle, then drive a mile away, you can see how dramatic such a sighting would be.

A YouTube video released by a videographer claiming to be from Germany also showed orange lights similar to those videotaped in Florida.

Unfortunately, at this point, there is no way to tell whether these are genuine UFO events on a worldwide scale, or the coincidental release of candles and flares. And who knows, maybe swamp gas was involved, too.
