"Red colored lights that formed a square and then a triangle were seen floating over north Phoenix late Monday, a sight reminiscent of an unexplained 1997 sighting that has become part of the area's lore.
There was no immediate word where they came from. "

where the above has the video.
I saw the initial report on CNN, but their site is a bit out of practice, and the video will not roll, at least for me.

Curious, as to why it's so similar to the other Phoenix Lights of 1997, where many in the state also saw this activity, as in this case. I'm aware the desert is a test bed for experimental craft, but this stands out as odd, since no reasonable explanation has been given.
At last accord, the first lights have been explained as both squadron of plane, and the colored ones were flares. Which I assume will be the explanation for this one. Only, before that jump is made into this incident also, flares are to attract attention, as well as give a field of light. The light associated with this phenomenon is not very broadcast, and does not light up the sky as most flares are designed.

Won't be able to say for certain it might have been a UFO, until an attempt is made at official explanation.

The pictures are of the usual bad quality plus the changing formation says to me they are independent lights blowing in the wind. Lighted balloons , Chinese lanterns, or some thing of that nature. And the report of Jets following after a time? If they existed , they are lucky the lighted object were not sucked in to the engines.

Now a jet crash caused by a prank. That would be News worthy.

We'll see what the Air Force's official explanation is. These days, with budgets and base closings, personal re-assignment, etc; they don't want/need unidentified phenomenon in their immediate air space. Since 9/11, this has been learned as bad. To have something attract attention, without proper response.

I agree, since not there, it doesn't appear of the same order as the original incident. Just odd, that the base officially denounced itself as being informed.

Has happened throughout the world, throughout history, balls of light making triangular and square figures. Just a few seem to see the connection and their similarities. Others give multiple explanations ... I do not understand why. I watched the clip and have seen and read about the same similar occurances happening throughout the world. Yes they are UFO's meaning they are unidentifyed, but we still are going nuts about the "aliens" when most people have no clue about all of the unknown aspects of our earth. I do not know what I would think if I was not lucky enough to see what I have seen and to have read about it, but I have and therefore I see these phoneix lights being the same thing as the Marfa lights of Texas and the brownsville lights of North Carolina. Wondering what they are? Look it up...

Hey, guys, not to burst your proverbial bubbles, so to speak... But on the news they just confirmed that they were road flares and helium balloons. It's odd how people get worked up isn't it?

Yeah, well I was hailing from the neutral corner. Non-bubble-burst, here. In fact, this thread never acclaimed at such.
I'll mark it hoax, with intent at disillusionment. Seemed to be what I picked up on, to begin with.

But, to counter the claim many don't seek, I'll point at the Numerous space agencies. Where ours is NASA. Who's second line accordance is to seek other life forms.
You pay for it, might not like it though.

Yeah, those rockets they shoot skyward. There not over-glorified fireworks. They have a mission, although deluded at times. There is a curiosity. And, many, many protocols that dictate space exploration. Including proper contact with sentient beings.

I wasn't trying to be condescending... In fact, I like to keep an open mind, and I am in the belief that there is life out there, inhuman life albeit. And I do believe that they've visited our little hunk-a earth before, and that they will do so again! So kudos in keeping an open mind, and eye! I was just reporting what the news told me!

this happened about 10 minutes away from me. my state seems like its a mecca for ufo sightings. i tell you what i really don't believe some dude attached flares to balloons and sent them into the sky. when are you people going to stop believing this crap they tell you? tell me how the flare's heat at some point doesn't pop the balloon? do flares appear in perfect formation as well? dissapear and reappear? i dunno, sounds like a stretch. i myself have seen some strange things in the sky over arizona.

To be perfectly honest, I think it's a tourist reaction. Actually, it appeared reflective material. Stricken with traversed invisible LASER light, whereupon striking, yielded a light field.

Highly coordinated hoax. As, this site is a hot-bed, when Mr. Chan was allowed to walk with approximately 2,100 pounds of sensitive information concerning our nuclear program. 'Bout when it started, this event. He stole not only data, but the darned writer to write on one of them opticals. No CD, Platter. About 200 pounds each. Where the tracks may be laid in sectors of the terabyte range. Huge.
Needed to clear a truck, as his Daihatsu couldn't haul it. Crazieeee.

Then, the original event came into light. Where, official documentation indicates, approximately 4000 soldiers DeeDee'd. Some still listed: AWOL.

The news confirmed?

Thank God. Guess it's over then.
