Does anyone know if there are any demons of depression throughout mythological history or in any religions? Any religion / mythology counts, from Celtic to Egyption to Islam.

The idea of "ill humours" may relate to this subject? Do you mean specifically if any historical groups made reference to "the demon of depression is possessing Ol' Jebediah" or similar reference? Perhaps if you were a little more plain in what the *intent* of your question is, rather than focusing on specific syntax (or at least explain why the phrasing is important), someone who has relevant information might be able to help you.

The Bible offers this:

QUOTE
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

QUOTE
2 Corinthians 4:8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed

Yes the name of this demon is Baal, you can google wikipedia or demons and get a list of them hope this helps this demon creeps in slowly and preys on a weekend emotional state such as grief ,or a breakup .it works slowly and consumes, you, as it strengthins it will allow other demons to join it this is why the antidepresent bussiness is booming people just dont believe that such creatures exist if there are good there has to be evil its the balance, everything is food for something else we are food for demons or our energy is. there are demons at all different levels of strength.

Apparently, his name is Noonday. He seems to be the demon of depression most popular on google anyway.
Demon Noonday
What will they think of next?
Here's a pic of Baal from Wiki.
Looks like a goofball to me.

Funny, because my weekend emotional state demon is named "Party" and I like him pretty well. No need for excorcism here. laugh.gif
