I have been watch colin fry for a while now, and he seems to get quite alot right, but there is one thing that really makes me think that it's not real. Why when he is making contact he say's things like" im looking for someone who just changed their hair" or " someone who's name sounds like rob, bob" etc. Now, why don't these spirits say their name, or the name of the person they want to contact, that would be more credible. He is always saying that the spirits said this and that, so how hard would it be to say their name, or the persons name they want to contact. For me, this would make it so much more credible. Does anyone else agree?

Yeah well that's the problem with a lot of these so called mediums. Now I've never heard Colin Fry, speaking honestly so I can't really comment on him directly, but with some of the other ones like Sylvia Browne, John Edwards, Van Praagh.....it just seems like they are doing cold readings, they are fishing for info. I think there are some legit mediums out there, but these famous ones, I am really skeptical of them...
fReaK_UnLEaShed90
umm.. i would say they are fishing for info. its like reading body language, you look around for the people who respond to what you are saying and basically bullsh**t it. check out darren brown. he's F-ing nuts. he has an episode of pretending to be a medium. its just reading body language. sorry if i din't make much sense. <3

I suppose some things might not be very clear if they are actually recieving information from the spirit world. Bad signal maybe? tongue.gif

Im undecided on famous mediums after having a reading from Derek Acorah which was very accurate! But then finding out about all the "kreed kafer" incident etc, leaves me still wondering and undecided!

"Hi, does anyone in the audience here, have a grandparent or great grandparent who's recently pass away to the other side?
Good.... good....

This method of gaining information is called Cold Reading and it is all about reading the slight unconcious body movements made by people when a piece of vague information applys to them. As fReaK_UnLEaShed90 has stated the brilliant Derren Brown, did a cold reading session with a number of students, one british group, one american and finally a spanish group. Derren correctly guessed, according to the students, some very personal information that could only apply to that one individual. That was untill the students were asked to randomly swap their 'personel' statement written my Derren, every students mouth dropped...the reason ? every statement was identical. It is known as the Forers Experiment.

Also not many people realise but a number of years ago, Collin Fry used to perform under the stage name 'Lincoln' untill...well here is the story for those interested original.gif interested

Colin Fry that well known trumpet flyer made good (refers to one of colin's earlier shows when he was giving a display of 'physical' mediumship and the lights came on at the wrong moment catching poor old Col waving a trumpet in the air).

The thing with 'mediums' is that they change their act to suit the audience. for example in the 1920's when spiritualism was really popular it was common to tie the medium to a chair, turn out the light and objects would fly around the room ....... these days these shows are seldom performed as a spiritual exhibition as night vision and low level recorders would expose the scam in seconds.

Whatever happened to good old Ectoplasm ? ........ my there are photographs of the stuff pouring out of the old mediums mouths but no self respecting medium would claim to produce ectoplasm these days !

And the more traditional medium act where they slump in a chair and proceed to talk to their audience in a silly voice and pretend to come from sirius or mars, that act is declining these days.

Now all you get is some slick presenter wondering about the stage pretending to speak to an unseen guide and making outragous barnum statements which would fit 90% of the audience ........ where has all that showmanship gone ? at least in the old days you knew it was complete tosh but at least they dressed it up for you.

By the way there is an excellent clip of a very early colin fry doing a silly voice and answering questions whilst in a "trance" which I am sure he would like to forget about ....I'll see if I can find it and post the ling it's soooooo bad its hysterical.

I knew I had him somewhere ..... I bet he would sooner forget this, he doesn't let good old Magnus out of his box much these days does he LOL

and here is a link to a write up on his trumpet flying performance in the psychic news http://www.tonyyouens.com/psychic_news.htm

sadly its all deception my friend "You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time".

Yep, good post.

I thought Derren Brown demonstrated just how effective it can be..especially when the reader is being positive...
very few people are going to say....
"Huh? nah my granddad was a right **** and me? I'm a Total *******. sorry Colin you're completely wrong.." tongue.gif

I saw Derren Brown live last week and he was amazing ........ he stated that he has absolutley NO paranormal powers whatsoever and claimed that all mediums who claim to have it are liars and should be jailed. He then went on to give the most unbelievable up close display of mediumship you could ever see, no wasted statements just fact after fact including deaths of family members and pets, current occupations and other details. then there was a display of table tipping and levitation that was unnerving .... Colin Fry, Derek Accorah and all the others should give up their acts and learn from the master Derren Brown is unreal and its down to showmanship not supernatural claptrap
