Full Version: Hypothetically everyone joined the one faith

This thread is nothing more than a Hypothetical idea...........meaning pure what IF..not aimed at the reality of todays society...the idea is to get you to use your imagination and wonder - WHAT IF?

(I highlighted it and even underlined the word hypothetical to catch the eye in orde to gain an understanding, just like I always do when I either add in a few CAPS or bold my sentences lol )

Anyhoo.........

IF...hypothetically everyone in the entire world was to convert to being athe ONE kind christian IE all converted to born again(and no other christian demonations or faiths existed anymore...everyone converts to the ONE kind of christian faith) and all repented etc etc...more and more christian churches built, more and so much more christian meetings held, all schools turning christian, and there isnt a non christian on earth ...(now you have to imagine if that actually happened..and I know in reality it hasnt and may never..but the idea is purely hypothetical)

3 X Questions therefore go like this........

.....1.Would there be anyone preaching - THE END IS NEAR?

2. How many would feel frustrated with the idea that no one is left to preach to and the idea of trying to convert and spread the word of God is POINTLESS as everyone is the same and practice the faith the same....just how frustrating would that make a preaching christian??

3- - Due to frustrations by some, how long would it take one or two to try and create a break away group and make up their own faith claiming that all the other billions of christians are in fact WRONG LOL...and hence yet another christian faith is born??

What you are talking about has in one shape or form happened throughout our world history. Just look at Christianity as an example, we have all the forms of that religion that we do because thankfully no matter how much we are all taught to believe the same thing, there will be those that think independtly.

It seems regardless how I bold or explain what hypothetical means..someone has to ignore it and stil look at reality...and FYI the entire world is NOT christian..and christianity itself holds a number of faiths

The IDEA of this thread is ...IF everyone had the same christian faith...MEANING..all just the ONE KIND of christian.....and if you cant imagine that, then I will understand how you cant take part

I get the hypothetical, but even if you create a hypothetical world, to disregard what people have done in the past in similar hypothetical worlds then you are creating a hypothetical world with a hypothetical man that doesn't exist.

And since you treated my last reply to your thread the way you did, you can consider this my last reply to it. Maybe someone else will play along they way you want it.

I think in some of that there is an urgency to persuade people by fear to join the Christian faith. Kind of like "Hmmm your gonna get caught out, better repent now before it is too late". So that would have to diminish. But there are always the fringe loonies, so still people would be in the streets with cardboard signs I'm sure.

If people derive their sense of superiority and/or self from being on 'the right side' and preaching, then yes they would have to channel that need elsewhere. Lots of 'healing' workshops would spring up for the 'frustrated Christian'. laugh.gif

Pretty instantaneously IMO lol. Human nature.

Edit: Lol some people just don't do hypotheticals - they are probably very practical thinkers to be honest. Me - not so much lol.

I made the thread hypothetical for a good reason...and in all fairness, you did ignore it and tried to point out reality..on how christianity has all christians following the same <--i already know this, but I also know that the entire world doesnt follow christianity and I know that there are so many types of christain because they dont all agree on how a belief should be followed

SO..I asked - what IF everyone DID follow the one kind of christian faith..IE - born again...<--now do you see what I am trying to say?
euthanasia
then we would all be happy and live in heaven together...the end

They would all break up into different segments over time.

Do you mean, "Would anyone still be preaching that their way was THE Way?" I think you would still have that kind of preaching going on, although one would hope that the tone would be one of celebration and joy that the end to this life of hardship and trial is near and we're all finally going to enjoy the eternal life we were being prepared for. If you mean would they be preaching that everyone needs to repent before it's too late, I don't think they would since there would be no reason to, would there?

It should not be frustrating at all. Even on UM, the Christians who try to convert others are doing so because they worry about the eternal consequences of not being saved, so you would think that they would be overjoyed at the fact that there was no one left to worry bout.

About 2 seconds. tongue.gif

Only one thought came into my mind. If all the world was one particular religion, they would still all be arguing and quoting scriptures. Because its just how it happens. I see it all over here on UM. Two people seemingly of the same religion quoting scriptures, trying to outdo each other.

AND, (ok, so this is my second thought - I'm on coffee now w00t.gif ) If the world was all one particular religion, there would still probably be various levels of devotion. Therein would be the problem. Zealots would be trying to bring in the casual observer for more regular training. People would be judging the Jones tsking over how they're not giving enough religious training to their child or going to church enough.

I think so , too.

i know this is hypothetical but wouldnt that be the end of the bible

or we get
one mind one purpose
but when said "Pope" dies who sets "what is and will be".

chances are it will last for one generation. it will break by two simple means.

1 lack of a leader = this will cause in fighting for the throne [kain and abel]

2 rebellion= humans are wired to learn since the church kindly lays out all knowledge for them children will simply seek out New info this gives us that beautiful science vs religion.

Now it may regain balance but turmoil will strike it at the end of the next generation.

this is actually what has happened right now with the interduction of several cultures and the scientific method so suddenly we are re evaluating the model of things. eventually well be one religion again.

this will also again after Official interplanetary contact.
