Okay, I'm fairly sure that this is true, and it will probably disgust you.

If you buy a Big Mac at McDonald's, and ask them to take out the pickles, do they do it? No, or at least not where I live.

Do you want to know why they don't take out the pickles...?

Because, a Big Mac, without pickles, is nutritionally considered confectionery.

I am so glad I don't eat hamburgers to start with.

Mmmmm... I just had one last night with the healthy pickles. tongue.gif

So what? They are delicious.

Who all remembers the old commercial : Two all beef patties, special sauce, leetuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun ?

I did get sicker than a dog several years ago from a McD's fillet of fish sandwich. Must have been bad tarter sauce. ( or bad carp ) grin2.gif

I did too with a dodgy fillet of fish! when we came over to the US to go to Disney World, I was so sick they delayed us going home by a week, then put us in business class to go home. I've never felt to ill in my life.

i would question this, for one big mac has lettuce, cheese onions and pickles,,,,i dont see how taking off the pickles alone change anything,,if that was the case the little hamburgers and cheese burgers that only have onion cheese and pickles or just onion and with noe cheese would be considerd confectionery also,, because, the same patty is used a 12 to 1 patty 12 of those little patties equal a lb. of meat....(i worked at mc slave masters when i was in high school)

and they will take off anything you dont want on the burger,,,more then likley the person working behind the counter just didnt care enough to actually take the pickles off of your big mac. and the special sauce is almost the exact same thing as thousand isle dressing, looks and smeels the same, and it has chuncks of relish(pickles) in the sauce itself,,soo unless i see more evidence im going to call B.S. on this one

Funnily enough, a Fillet O Fish has cheese on it - really, what a vile combination, but it's still good... maybe I will live a little, throw caution to the wind, let my hair down and try the BBQ sauce. yes.gif grin2.gif

who gives a,.... how unhealthy a Big Mac is, tastes nice that's what counts, we're all hung up on unhealthy foods. yet our parents/grandparents were brought up on dripping butties. sugar butties, and some of the most fattiest foods around, and it done them no harm, its the sort of food that puts hairs on ya a***, but back in the day people were more active with more manual labour jobs...etc...not like the lazy lard arses today,

one big mac has less fat than a pork pie, is the Big mac the same size in the US as in the UK.

Now that I look at it, you're probably right. It was something my mum told me, guess I should have really checked up on it. Guess I didn't really think. Maybe she was joking... she didn't sound like she was joking. Meh, you make a good point. Something which I probably should have foresaw.

By the way usually they'll take off anything but the pickles around here. If that's not actually the reason (which now that I think, it probably wasn't) I don't know what is.
asc.rudeboy
i have no idea whay they wouldnt take off the pickles,,i mark it up to lazy people no doing their crappy job right.

but i remember making all kind of special orders i even remember a lady coming into the drive threw ordering 15 hamburgers no buns just patties,,odly enough the small cup lid for your cokes will hold one of these parries,,,anyway we would cook her patties place them in the cup lids and she would feed them to her dogs,,for them that was the worst thing in th world its one thing to cook for rude people haha but to have to cook for over paperd dogs was just horrible.
haha also people would come in and order the round mc nuggets only they didnt want the odly shaped ones,,,so custome orders are done all the time....some are wilder then others

ahh.. I too was a McSlave in high school - I actually loved the job. It was much fun and I have so many funny stories from just working there that I could start a blog about it.

Did you work there 'pre clamshell cooker days'?... back when they actually 'flipped' the burgers. I remember doing a 12:6 turn and bun prep by myself almost every time I worked. Great fun. grin2.gif
I really miss the McDLT's though... they were the best sandwich they had.

asc.rudeboy
yea i was there about year before the clam shells.and the Q-ing ovens..haha i even stole the seerer or what ever that that thing was called you used to press the burgers and a matter of fact i still have a few little burn marks from that thing,,,,i loved that job it was a lot of fun but there is no way i could do that job again, once you get out of that place you see how bad they treat their workers..

While the consideration may not be true, you can ask them to make your burgers in any way, shape or form you want, and they will do it. If you get your burger with pickles, take it back and make them do it again. tongue.gif You can get a big Mac with just the bun sauce and patties if you want.

Best option: Don't eat that horrible stuff, it's actually barely considered food in the first place. It's loaded with chemicals designed just to stop your body from throwing it all up again, because your body knows it does not belong in there!!!

This is true, oooo, I just found the best Chippie in the land. Pickwicks in Perranporth, I don't know what they fry it in, but it's the best.

Kryso
I'm A Burger King kind of guy, lol.

Oh, and while were on the subject of Mcdonalds, did you know that the sugar-coat their chips/fries...
MissMelsWell
The only thing I can tolerate at McD's are those yogurt/apple walnut cup things. Their burgers taste like wet cardboard to me. And, mostly I don't like french fries in general, I only like 'em baked. And, I will admit, I have taken a shine to the pub style beer battered and fried fries, but don't eat them very often.

I like a burger as much as the next person, but I want a charbroiled, hand crafted, 100% real beef, real cheese, real lettuce (not that shredded crap) burger. You know, like the big greasy ones you can get at the County Fair, even better if they have the grilled onions. Heaven!!
The Silver Thong
Wow these guys here have a real beef with McDonalds.

YEAH BOY! I love the fillet of fish! And the ANGUS BURGERS!!!!

Every now and then I have Mikey D's, not often. But when I do YUMMY!

Ghost It Notes
McDonalds used to fry the french fries in beef lard, but they changed to a "healthier" cooking oil and added beef flavor to maintain the taste. True. I used to work there in the 80's and I had a blast most of the time. I'm the type that will add fun to my job if it's too boring and I got away with murder. I was a relatively cute 16 year old then =). One day, I was polishing the front counter with a stainless steel spray cleaner and when I was done, I went to put it away in the back. On my way, I noticed the manager/part owner, sitting at a desk, counting out the money trays. He had a bald head with fringe hair around the sides. All of a sudden, my insanity kicked in like it does every so often, and I sprayed his noggin with the cleaner and wiped it dry with the cloth. I immediately wondered why the hell I did that and a couple of other employees covered thier mouths with thier hands and gasped in shock at my antics, knowing I must surely be fired on the spot. He turned, looked me in the eye, then proceeded to laugh his head off! We all started laughing then! Yes! I really did that! I did not get fired and I even got a chance at a promotion after that! Go figure!

I called those "McGrizzles".

They use real white meat now for Mcnuggets.
EyeKandi15
umm.... i worked at mcdonald's for a year and they do take out the pickles. If you order it without pickles and it has pickles on it when you get it, it's probably just because the people in the back don't know what they're doing half the time lol.

Cool, another Mcthread...
