"And if adult reality shows were not enough, channels have roped in kids to join the reality TV race. Like advertisers, channel producers seem to have hit the jackpot by basing entire shows around kids.
So be it Chote Ustad, Little Champ or Boogie Woogie , young talent is making waves on the small screen like never before. The sheer dedication put in by the young contestants is commendable coupled with the fierce competition and pressure of elimination; it’s no surprise to see them grow up overnight.
The question is: Are we getting too ambitious for our kids? A little healthy competition and some fun with judges and fellow contestants are all fine; but are kids ready to deal with all the baggage that comes with it?
Catch them young
When it comes to showing off talent, ‘age no bar’ is the mantra for teenagers. Explains Gajendra Singh, director-producer of a kids based reality show, “Children participating in these shows are very clear about their future, of what they want to achieve and be in life. For them it’s the right age to learn because ten years later, this grooming might be of no help to them.”
