So I just got back to Canada, my home, from a long time of being away. And I changed so much in that time, in such a wonderful way.
Anyway something I always kind of wanted to learn was to play the Guitar, but I never really wanted to challenge myself. Now i've since found new inspiration in myself to learn new things, especially the Guitar. I've decided to make it my number one priority.

SO, I went out and bought myself a pretty standard cheap Acoustic to start practising on. Just learning the chords, getting that finger calous built up, etc. This is great! I'm happy to finally be taking the time to learn how to play.

I was hoping to get some new, serious beginner tips to help learning how to play a little easier. And I know there are some pretty pro Guitar players on this site. So what do you think guys?
Discuss playing and practising the Guitar here. Talk about and recommend your favourite songs to play, give and take some advice on beginner playing, etc.

Thanks guys. Excited to learn!

That's cool, dude. Although I play the electric, not the accoustic, a lot of beginners tips can go for both. I would start by doing some finger exercises while playing. Create your own simple harmonies that can easily utilize all fingers, and start out playing them slowly to get your fingers used to the movement, and slowly increase the speed at which you play. This is a great warm-up exercise that you should try doing whenever you start playing.

Check out www.ultimateguitar.com for tabs to pretty much every band out there. Listen to your favorite accoustic songs, look up the tabs to them, and then try playing the songs piece by piece until you get a good feel for it. That site also has some excellent tips.
My favorite ballad/accoustic song of all time is Angel's Son by Sevendust, so I would definately recommend checking that one out.

I actually just got a Marshall MG100 half-stack with HDFX. Cost me over $650. I got it a few days ago in the mail. And then my guitar breaks. I can't figure out why it won't work. I've been wanting to get a new (and good) guitar for awhile, though. In the meantime I'm going to see about getting this one repaired. This is just crappy luck, man. I haven't been able to play for a few months, and then I finally get my new amp and my guitar breaks. I need to get the project my buddy and I have been discussing underway, but crap like this keeps getting in the way.
