I don't know if this is a hoax or if it is true... My Aunt sent it to me - but I thought I would post it anyway... you can never be too safe! thumbsup.gif

Very Important - If it is true

During the next several weeks be VERY cautious about
opening or launching any e-mails that refer to the World Trade
Center or 9/11 in any way, regardless of who sent it. PLEASE FORWARD TO
ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, "WTC"
STANDS FOR THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. REALLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE PEOPLE
WILL OPEN IT RIGHT AWAY, THINKING ITS A STORY RELATING TO 9/11!
BIGGGG TROUBLE !!!! DO NOT OPEN "WTC Survivor" It is a virus that
will erase your whole "C" drive.. It will come to you
in the form of an E-Mail from a familiar person. I repeat, a friend
sent it to me, but called and warned me before I opened it. He was
not so lucky and now he can't even start his computer!

Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather
receive this 25 times than not at all. So, if you receive an email
called "WTC Survivor", do not open it. Delete it right
away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files)
from your computer.

Like I said ... better safe than sorry! thumbsup.gif

One of these days, some savvy hacker is goint to make a virus that everyone thinks is a hoax.

Always check symantec for virus information, they will tell you if it is a hoax. Oh, actually it is better to uninstall windows and you will be virus free for the rest of your life tongue.gif

ANd then what?....does your Pc turn into a Big Mac? w00t.gif
PsychicPenguin
Nope, it turned into a Linux system, which is what I'm using right now. I'm free wink2.gif

I actually copied and pasted, rm -rvf /mnt/windows, into my URL and got a lot
of Linux stuff but must confess I don't know what that is. wacko.gif
PsychicPenguin
well.. it is a UNIX command. If you install Linux on your Windows PC, it usualy put your existing Windows system in directory /mnt/windows so you can still use it during your transition time. After you regain freedom from windows brainwashing effect then you will be able to issue the command rm -rvf /mnt/windows

Well.. Linux still requires some degree of computer literacy, and sometimes freedom is just overwhelming. So, if you feel like advanturous, go ahead.

Freedom is just overwhelming does worry me a bit. What are the
freedoms or what is it that I hope to accomplish by such a feat? I know
it gets complicated trying to explain computer stuff in a forum such as this.
I got WIndows XP about 2 years ago and it is all I have ever known. I am
savy...a bit...but I amn't no genius.
PsychicPenguin
Freedomg.. it's like... well.. what do you want to do with your computer? Do you want it to be a pretty desktop bloated with loads of eye-candy? Do you want it to be light and fast? Do you want it to be a server with ultra-high security and stability? Do you want it to be a part of a cluster collaborating with other computers to build a network with supercomputing power? Pretty much you can do whatever you want, for free.
