Blind Atrocity
Ever since I watched The Shining -- the newer one -- I've wanted to go to the Stanley Hotel. I intend to go to the Crescent Hotel this summer. And maybe this summer I could get my dad to take me to the Skirvin Hotel in OKC.

If you haven't read King's The Shining, it's a truly frightening story. It was written back when King was still struggling, and it's gold. I've never really cared for any movie covering the story. The book is chilling.

I was 21 in 1975, and moved 125 miles to a Nebraska village, and was put up for most of a month in a closed town hotel. I'm glad I hadn't yet read The Shining at that time. It was scary enough, without King branding some of my brain cells with a red-hot iron. That's what The Shining did for me. Oh, a few years later, Pet Cemetery. Ugly, unforgettable little story. I wish you well in your stay at the Stanley. I hope to stay there sometime, too.

I can't say if I'll ever get a chance to stay at the Stanley, but I truly hope to. I haven't yet read the bookThe Shining. I have, however, read Pet Cemetery.

Another hotel not on the list, that I've seen multiple times on t.v. shows or documentaries, is the Goldfield Hotel, (I believe is what it's called) in Nevada. It's been out of service for many years, but I've seen lots of evidence and heard many stories proving it to be haunted.
